  • i have come to the conclusion that some doctors are just plain sadists.

A few years ago I was in therapy for my shoulder. A new guy started, and we were small talking. He mentions he hopes the economy doesn't become socialist, because then he won't make as much money being a docter when he's finished with school. We've completely lost the plot.

  • Not willing to die over this comment. Hear me out for a second. I recognize how powerful vi (is it neovim these days?) is. But I could never play games with those awful hjkl keys for navigation, I hate them. Also, I don't have to memorize nano. All the key combos are listed on the bottom. So it requires less mental load.

  • Ha, I just setup a git repo for my dfhack scripts. On an unrelated note. I just had a giant Cyclops attack my fort and I couldn't get my gate closed in time. So a lone marksdwarf beat it with it's Iron crossbow until backup could arrive lol

  • It's not a great story unfortunately. When I was younger, and still believed in an imaginary sky daddy. I was told all throughout childhood that if you believe in him, anything is possible. My mother is a quadriplegic from a car accident when I was 14. So, I REALLY believed that she would be healed and walk again. I fasted for 30 days, praying everyday. After the 30 days I gathered my friends and we all prayed for my mom. As you can imagine, not much has changed, aside from me being an atheist now.

  • UBlue is a tool the fedora team created to build immutable distros in a container. This is a list of official distros created by it. If you've seen Bazzite it was also created with UBlue.

Immutable distro just means the root filesystem is mounted read-only. So when you do updates, they create another image of your filesystem with the updates applied. Then you have to boot into the new filesystem. This is called an atomic upgrade. So if something is broken, you reload your last image and everything is fine.

  • Variety is the spice of life. I've used Slackware, Arch, Gentoo, Fedora, Nix, been on Debian the last few years. Been looking at setting up my own UBlue image. I really like the immutable thing. Do whatever makes you happy..

  • I don't know if this will help or not. I came across this video a while ago. It's a former cop describing what they deal with. I'm ACAB too, but they are still people being exploited just like us. The system is what we should be directing our anger towards. https://youtu.be/_nl5zMIwcmQ
