  • Dealing with bedbugs was definitely the worst time in my life. I'm also not completely over it and jump when my clothes brush against my skin. Any hotel room or Airbnb I stay at gets a thorough examination around all the beds before my shoes come off.

It was a lot of fun explaining to people that no, I couldn't entertain them at my place because it was a functional quarantine zone. Oh you're going to stand way over there while you talk to me, that's cool I guess.

This is a joke community, but seriously. If you're reading this, go search online for what a bedbug looks like and be aware of signs of infestation. You do not want to have to fight with them when you could have acted sooner.

  • I'm not trying to defend Microsoft, but their software isn't licensed under the GPL so they really aren't under any obligation to share the source code.

There are alternatives and people can choose to use Microsoft software or not.

  • Antichamber was pretty good for this. You would accidentally fall off a bridge or something and expect a game over, only to find an entirely new area to explore. There were no failure states as far as I remember.

  • I always worry about rebates like these just making an incentive for resellers to keep prices artificially high. The last company I got a quote from for an air source minisplit heat pump system said it would cost upwards of $13k, which even after all available rebates was still roughly the same as the quote they gave me to install a conventional ducted furnace/AC and air handler from scratch.

  • I thought I was finally finished distro hopping after I landed on Fedora, but then I found Nobara and then the whole RHEL drama started so I went back to Debian stable but then NixOS caught my attention.

    It will never end

  • It's a bit weird to me how, on a post regarding a GNOME update, people feel the need to come out of the woodwork to explain how they prefer to use Plasma or any other DE or WM.

This is Linux, you can use whatever you feel like using. Let people be happy with what they're happy with.

  • Meanwhile, the Enterprise uses phasers, which seem to be close to light speed

A phaser beam is made up of nadion particles, which to my eyes seems to move through space at about the same speed as a Star Wars laser bolt.

I think a more fair fight would be a Danube runabout vs. the Falcon, but my money is still on the Starfleet ship.
