I did this before in this thread but there are actually some others who helped us quite a bit. Lemm.ee's admin @sunaurus@lemm.ee and Lemmy contributor @phiresky@lemmy.world to name a few.
No but I've heard lemm.ee admin @sunaurus@lemm.ee and @phiresky@lemmy.world have been on the case today. Those guys are gems and have helped Lemmy World survive quite a few storms already. We would have had even more problems if it wasn't for them backin up @ruud@lemmy.world.
It's a check if the hostname is 'lemmy.ml' and if yes then it will display a box with information about federation and link to Join-Lemmy.org on the signup page - so yes it is hardcoded for their instance. I'm not shaming the devs here I'm sure they would at one point make this an option for all instances since half the work is done. And it's something we at LW could use but I'm sure it's not interesting to everyone running an instance.
Took a while before we announced it but it was running on photon.lemmy.world for a while already. Love how fast you implemented the changes that were brought up by everyone that was testing. Absolutely amazing job. I think you are the first one to get the admin tools in too!
Oh yeah actually Alexandrite is not really suited for mobile. The developer is working on improving the mobile experience but it's main focus is desktop.
BIG EDIT: Actually @sheodox@lemmy.world just released an update and it now looks pretty frickin sweet on mobile with a new cards layout.

But let me repeat that these are DDOS attacks. There are a few who want to see this server go down and/or push us to 'close registrations'. Also the deferation from the extreme right and left instances made us some more enemies.
They're trying to make it look as if we can not handle the load for their own benefit. But it's a targeted attack by people who know the inner workings of Lemmy.
I'm still trying to understand what he means with the rent or mortgage thing.. Of course there is a cost but he doesn't seem to understand how something like that easily stays under the radar.. you are not going to notice it when a certain bill goes up for the little bit it costs to self host or what impact it will have on your mortgage... There are things like data usage that will be easier and clearer indicators
Not here though. This is not a free speech platform and we never claimed it was. We want to be a welcoming instance and those kind of discussions can be had somewhere else. Have a look at those instances that hide behind "free speech" just to be able to say terrible things. No thank you
