Lemmy.World Minecraft Server Announcement
It's not there?
I use two separate harddisks. It's the easiest and cleanest option
They also expanded the mod team now. Good luck to the team π«‘
Remember, support those who make Lemmy better β€οΈ
Talk about a rough ride indeed! That's not an easy decision to make so I'm sure they tried everything to not let it come to this..
What, a post critical of LW from @1984@lemmy.today without the thiniest bit of background information. Say it isn't so!
Wow thank you @canthidium@lemmy.world. I didn't want to include you in this mess but I appreciate this a lot.
I replied to you a bit lower here too and this will also be my last post about this because if you don't understand it now you never will and i will accept that.
Izzy came back from another account to say their goodbyes, as they no longer wish to be involved anyway. This post seems to have disappeared.
All Izzy's accounts are banned. And the reason they posted was not to say "that they didn't wish to be involved any longer" because that's a bit after-the-fact right. They wanted to cause more drama.
Then a bit later, admin came to SF to make a post looking for new mods. When people brought up the situation, they locked the thread.
I posted what we had to say and closed the thread immediately after. You are twisting the timeline of events to use it in your favor, pure sensationalism.
You seem to feel a certain way about the admins on this instance. You are a moderator and you would be welcome to interact with others in our moderator discord server and at least make an informed post but seemingly you prefer not to interact with the others and instead to make up your own version of things.
But to end this on a positive note, we had people reach out to become moderators on !sciencefiction@lemmy.world and we'll hook them up with eachother so they can get things going again.
I see you love sci-fi
That it was about the same thing every time does not mean it wasn't harassment. You got your answer when you came on matrix but you didn't seem to understand that we expect moderators of communities to be respectful to others. How can they moderate a community and be acting like that? And now you are here as if we didn't take time for you to explain things.
And saying "sync users are more toxic" is something you said on matrix yesterday too which was like.. definitely A take.
But fine, run with it.
Edit: an ex-moderator from !sciencefiction@lemmy.world chimes in. https://lemmy.world/comment/3571751
We allowed the drama community so far. Even with the "landlord lover" shit which is just ragebait. Now this one is created obviously for the same reasons. Allowed the kids to have some fun and whatnot. But calling people "schizo" is a no-no. This was also the user that tried to stirr up the drama with Hexbear by telling others to "take their meds" which was then used against Lemmy World because we "allowed ableism".
I will ban gsa's account for a week. And we will think what will be done with the drama community. Now you have your drama π
Gsa, come on.
You don't know me but we talked plenty on an alt of mine.
This was a case of harassment from one user to another. That one is a developer of a successful app and the other is the moderator of a successful community has nothing to do with it. Izzy was asked on numerous occasions to stop derailing every conversation and stop targeting the user. You can not like something, you can be critical of something but at least try to be constructive. They were relentless. And when a warning was given by the admin they came back guns blazing, now also making accusations towards the admin team.
We have NO financial connection to Sync. We do not accept ANY money or other incentives from anyone exactly for this reason also, about how it might look if things go south.
Normally we don't talk about the bans in public because whatever we say people will twist the story make their own versions of it and run with it. So I posted what we had to say about that and locked the thread.
So finally I just want to say that it is unfortunate what happened but there were MANY occasions where Izzy was offered the chance to prevent this from happening. And as a moderator of a big community he has to be an example. Moderators should be held to a higher standard than normal users.
Edit: for another perspective, the other moderator from !sciencefiction@lemmy.world who left the community a while ago chimes in: https://lemmy.world/comment/3571751
Hey!
To those coming here in support of Izzy. I get it. You see them link to ONE post of where they were critical of Sync and thought that was all there is to it. However, this is only the tip of the iceberg that Izzy was so kind to share with you. In reality, this has been going on for months. Every time a thread would even mention Sync, Izzy would be in it derailing the conversation. It's ok to be critical, it's ok to not like Sync. But the criticism was never constructive nor helpful.
When Izzy finally got banned for a day yesterday we hoped that they would understand. Instead they started throwing accusations, demanding apologies and repercussions against the admin that banned them. There was a line that was crossed - and they got permanently banned. In their repeal they even started accusing the admin of having "Ulterior motives" and "financial incentives" instead of looking at their own actions and the many warnings they got.
So what happened had nothing to do with this community, but all with their behavior. And we hope someone will be interested in taking over this community because it would be sad to have to close this down due to the actions of one person. And especially as a moderator of a big community they should know how to behave and be respectful to others.
I'm closing this thread.
Heya! Not really. It's just a few communities that are being spammed really hard, so only those are removed. I think the work you're doing by flagging these spam accounts is already very helpful to Ernest and his team. He himself was kind enough to join us in this thread and give us some more information. For now all we can do is wait..
Thank you for your patience and understanding :)
Hey Ernest,
Having dealt with spam waves ourselves we are certainly understanding of the situation! I read your status updates and what has been going on. That is also why we choose to close the problematic communities/magazines instead of defederating.
We really hope that you find the time and peace to resolve these things. There is no bad will here, we know that these things need time. If there is anything we can do to help feel free to reach out.
The dick move is when you call out people that are doing something for you for free. Everything you see here is provided to you by volunteers who have to think about what's best for everyone in the community. And sometimes that means taking unpopular decisions. Thanks!
Hey everyone. We were still deciding what to do with the kbin.social problem.
While we want to stop the spam - we don't want to let down our community members that visit us from kbin.
