What do you secretly judge people for?
That would be amazing! No need for 2% to be the end goal instead of just a good start. A good government serves all its citizens, not just the ones with big bank accounts.
I know 2% is fairly laughable when we're talking normal people money, but this is 20 million per 1 billion.
when simply considering the 10 biggest fortunes in France, the tax would bring in no less than âŹ13bn for the state.
A country can do a decent bit of good for people with 13 billion.
Not only this annoyance you mentioned, but my personal little saying is that turn signals aren't just for the benefit of who you see, but more importantly for anyone you don't see!
You should have already made sure you're clear of everyone before you think about leaving your current path. Using the indicator is a preventative measure for the sake of yourself and anyone in a blind spot or that you failed to notice.
If you have depression with a medical cause, the only solution is going to be medicine.
I had depression for about 20 years and ignored it because I thought it would be too expensive and complicated.
One time I mentioned it to my GP at my free annual checkup. He wrote me a script for Lexapro. Even when I didn't have insurance, it has never cost over $20 for a month supply.
It has been worth countless times that to me, and one of my biggest regrets was not just asking sooner and assuming and taking other people's word it was complicated and expensive to get help.
As mentioned in another reply, try the teledoc and see if they can give you something. There are a few cheap types these days so you can hopefully get one that works for you.
Best of luck, it is truly life changing!
I've been using Trade coffee for the last 2 years or so. The subscription basically amounts to free shipping.
The selection is good, and I get something new every time I order without having to go to multiple websites to see who has what in stock that I'd like.
I don't think their recommendations are that great, but the filter options make it easy to find something I am interested in.
I like having no commercials on something by legitimate means, and unlike most streaming services, the content stays there once it's there. For the hours we use it, it's still a hell of a deal.
I adblock and sail the seas, but Premium gives what it promises without any real hassle. We use it way more than we used Netflix or Disney+.
It's better to have been overly cautious than to find out after the fact you left yourself too open to danger. I'm glad you were able to realize the situation you could have been in and were able to act on it despite the difficulty involved.
I don't know you, but no matter who you are, I'd prefer you to be safe and happy. Nobody deserves to be miserable or scared.
I'm sorry you had to deal with all that to be safe. I hope you are in a better situation now. đ
While the principle of our justice system is supposed to be the whole "better to let someone guilty go free then to punish someone innocent," that's naturally going to leave quite a number of people never getting the justice they deserve.
I have no clue what the right way to punish people is, but I feel people definitely have valid anger at the justice system even if things have been done by the letter of the law. The law is not perfect by design, so we should absolutely have the right to criticize it.

Agree with you wholeheartedly!
While it wouldn't have been policy, with the spoils system still remaining, plus what all rich people get away with at any point in history, I feel there still would have been some choice bits taken for the North, but if it was given to all now free Southerners, I would hope civil rights and racial equality would be decades ahead of where we are now.
The only counterpoint is that while Germany was punished pretty hard after 2 wars, they are still more far right than I think many would hope in even less time than we are now from the US Civil War....

Using genealogist-verified historical data and financial data from annual congressional disclosures, we examined members of the 117th Congress, which was in session from January 2021 to January 2023.
Of its 535 members, 100 were descendants of slaveholders, including Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell.
Legislators whose ancestors were large slaveholders â defined in our study as owning 16 or more slavesâ have a current median net worth five times larger than their peers whose ancestors were not slaveholders: $5.6 million vs. $1.1 million. These results remained largely the same after accounting for age, race and education.
Wealth, these studies find, often stays within rich families across multiple generations. Mechanisms for holding onto wealth include low estate taxes and access to elite social networks and schools. Easy entry into powerful jobs and political influence also play a part.
But members of Congress do not just inherit wealth and advantages.
They shape the lives of all Americans. They decide how to allocate federal funds, set tax rates and create regulations.
This power is significant. And for those whose families benefited from slavery, it can perpetuate economic policies that maintain wealth inequality.
Beyond inherited wealth, the legacy of slavery endures in policies enacted by those in power â by legislators who may be less likely to prioritize reforms that challenge the status quo.
I'm curious the ratio of those who have had former family members that have been politicians to those that are actually political outsiders. This article points out that the status quo is less of what society as a whole wants, but rather more what a select group of families has felt has worked for them to stay in that upper echelon.
If the South has been forced to give everything up after the war, I don't know if it would have been any better as far as if rich Northerners actually would have just bled off the best spoils of war and still left the South impoverished, but leaving the aristocracy get away with playing things like it never happened does not seem to have been the best choice either.
It would be interesting to see where things would be if all that wealth and land was divided up between all southerners of all races evenly, and those who lead the Confederacy had been punished. I feel many of today's problems stem from the North turning the other cheek to the defeated South.
I think there is just a general feeling of frustration for how the law is being used. The theory being the laws are there to protect innocent people from accusations from corrupt actors, but the reality is that the ones that are caught red handed are taking advantage of those protections to continue to get away with things, dispose of evidence, etc while slowing the wheels of justice for years. See Trump, Ken Paxton, Bob Menendez, and so on.
While not a violation of the literal law, it is a violation of the supposed purpose of those laws.
ETA: Also, anyone stuck living in these jurisdictions is also being forced to continue to pay these peoples' salaries and be subject to their corrupt will in the meantime. I imagine it isn't a great feeling to have these people being in charge of things, and as a citizen who is supposed to be the one being served by this person, you as an individual, city, or state, have no protection from this person, while a crook's livelyhood is being protected instead. It's like if you couldn't get a restraining order against someone until they were convicted of a crime.
Ahh, well from what I hear, they make a top quality product, so I'm glad you're giving yourself the best!
I supposed I left myself open for something like this! đ¤Ł
On behalf of the non-Pennsyltucky parts of the state, I thank you for your service and absolve you of your past crimes against signs.
Drag threw me for a loop the first time drag replied to me. I assumed it was a bit at first because this is the Internet and all, but I looked at drag's history to see what the story was, since it's not like anyone gives an introduction before commenting.
Other than the pronouns, Drag's posts are like anyone else's. Nothing was trollish, and Drag has explained drag's pronouns a few times. It's interesting to see drag's idea is to create something simpler, but as it is not very English in structure, it sounds very strange at first. I think I've gotten the idea now, though I have had to make a few corrections as I type this.
First, I think people should be able to be whoever they want to be, especially online, if they aren't doing things to be jerks. Drag has not done anyone wrong that I've seen. So if Drag asks me to call drag by something, why wouldn't I? Drag has engaged with me in a friendly way, so I owe drag the same.
Second, I enjoy it as a creative exercise. It keeps my mind engaged while writing what would otherwise be a bland reply. It's kind of fun to see language experience some flexibility and evolution, and if it honestly makes Drag feel better about drag's self, I can accommodate that. If you can't abide that, just move on and let Drag live drag's life.
Even though most of us are liberal here, it doesn't mean we're free of bias or not stuck in our own ways. Even if we don't get something, it doesn't hurt us to cooperate with someone that it does make sense to. That's just my feelings though.
Tracktion Waveform is free and has unlimited tracks, seems pretty nice, and is much more modern looking than last I checked on LMMS. I've been meaning to check it out more. It's the parts version, just 1 version behind the paid product.
Otherwise, I will probably just get the cheap Reaper license. The Commala theme has made that pretty sharp and it seems to do more than I know what to do with at this point
Light timers have been great. I feel having the ones in my bedroom work like a daylight alarm has been very helpful, and as you said, you never come home to a dark house, which is helpful if you've got arms full of groceries or such.
Also the smart thermostat in conjunction with smart outlets lets me turn on the room fans and AC when I'm on my way home.
Even having the ability to change color temp is nice so you can have harsh bright white if you need to see something you're working on, but the majority of the time you can have nice warm or soft light.
It's a pretty long article, but there's some fascinating stuff in there. Let me leave you with this bit to entice you to read it:
But itâs Bethelâs school of supernatural ministry, which has been called a âChristian Hogwartsâ, that is often credited with its growth. The program was founded by Kris and Kathy Vallotton, the senior leaders of the church, and teaches students that they can perform miracles and heal through prayer. âStudents will learn how to read, understand, and âdoâ the Bible, how to practice His presence, to witness, heal the sick, prophesy, preach, pray, cast out demons and much more,â the school website states.
People travel to Redding from around the world, more than 100 countries, to attend the vocational program. Students have been known to approach people in the city, particularly those in casts or with walkers, to offer prayers for healing. The focus on âsupernatural powerâ is fundamental to the church, which in 2019 asked members to pray for the resurrection of a two-year-old girl.
âThis is the bind weâre in,â she said. âShasta county is in this weird extremist sandwich where we have the rightwing pushing for guns and splitting the state. And there is the other extreme side of the sandwich that is Bethel church. Then the middle where people are trying to figure out how to survive in this place.â
I don't have it installed right now, as I've been trying out a FOSS reader for a while now on my new phone, but there is a troubleshooting section about syncing on their site, and also they recommend this guide made by a user discussing sync troubleshooting.
It's not a feature I've used, so maybe those guides have something you haven't tried. Since you replied to me though, I feel partially responsible for making sure you get helped now. đ
Stop, you're being too safe! đ
The only times anyone is to be criticized for signally is if it is waaaay before where you're actually turning so that people think you just bumped the stalk or if you just leave it on and don't know it.
