  • No, especially in this context I strongly disagree. Chromium especially when it comes to JS V8 is often faster. Not an issue when your phone is modern and fast but with Android 7 you are looking at a lot of first generation of 64 bit phones (Snapdragon 810, 808, 625, ...) and even some late 32 bit phones (Snapdragon 801, 805,...). Phones that need all the help they can get to squeeze water from stones.

However still hats off to mozilla for supporting Android 5 and 6. This way they keep a lot more phones somewhat viable, even if its not the fastest browser.

  • If been thinking about buying a Macbook but I don't wanna commit a 1000$+ for a Laptop with an OS I have never used and I'm not sure how much I will like using it.

I don't get why they can't make a M1 based Macbook SE for 600$. The 300$ iPad for example is what got me into checking out iOS.

  • From what I get and I only have a very basic understanding of Graphics APIs is that DX12 puts much more respobsibility on the developer which raises the performance peak one can achieve but it also lowers the floor of performance when you don't properly optimize code.

  • That isn't an issue anymore really. You can flash GSIs (Generic System Images) if your device supports it and many never MediaTek phones and tablets do. I have done this twice now and it works ok-ish!
