  • I would assume it's because it leads the reader to what tone to use in a given sentence. The question mark or exclamation point would be useful in tone throughout the whole sentence, but if neither is present in front of the sentence a regular reading tone could be assumed.

so why add a floating period when nothing being there allows for the same assumption and is much, much simpler and easier?

  • Agreed, I'm most of the way through The Colour of Magic and I can't remember the last time I was reading something where at times I have to stop and fully comprehend what I just read because it was so dang well written that I have to go back and read it again immediately.

  • I don't think that the best way to convince someone their way is wrong involves personally insulting them and sarcastically implying that they're hated by their students

  • I think I was just happy to see a cast of characters with some energy and personality, so I wasn't too bothered by the cringe, the whole thing was so overly corny and light in tone that my brain just registered it as straight camp and went from there

  • That probably makes it a guarantee, but I think it would paint an enormous target on your back for governments or worse to want to experiment on you.

I think I'd agree with you and I'd want to blow up on social media first ensuring that if anything were to happen to me, like a sudden disappearance, that it would be easily noticed and there'd be uproar.

  • I think it's really impossible to pick just one, but gun to my head, I'd pick Weird Fishes. It's got strong energy, but it's still introspective and emotional, great backing vocals, great Thom vocals, and as a bassist I love a lot of the bass work in that song.

  • I find it incredible anybody is taking this at face value

  • I do believe there are touch pad covers you can get, for me though the joystick is what wore down, so I have an extra rubber cap over the top now

  • I'm hoping it's something like opening it up and cleaning it out, I'm wishing you luck on that one, if mine died it'd be like an end of an era

  • I'm cool with dunkview, he calls it that for a reason. Some people will still use it as a review, like the original guy I commented to. It's a shame if someone treats it that seriously, but I don't think Dunkey is out there pretending to tell you the grand worth of games, it's, in my eyes, obviously enough comedy.

That being said, not even the zombie game video was called a dunkview, that was just... A video. So some people will use anything as a review, I suppose

  • Agreed, I used to really like Dunkey, then i watched his videos on Death Stranding after immensely enjoying the game myself and found them a little played up for content while painting the gameplay in a less than generous light.

That being said, I do realize it's a persona, and even his "reviews" are called dunkviews, and at times he does certainly have some nice insight, and he's funny for certain, I don't think he's a bad YouTuber or anything, but I hope people don't use his videos as purchasing advice like you might a true review

  • Same, I used one forever, wore the joystick down to the hard plastic underneath and it eventually ceased to turn on, I ended up incredibly lucky, some random redditor said he bought one that he never used and actually sent it to me free of charge and I still randomly go on steam and just thank the guy for letting me continue to use this controller.

I really hope they eventually release another or something

  • I appreciate the communication. I'll be looking out for the info, then!

  • Thanks so much for the link to that. I can understand the issues that the admins are dealing with in regards to Lemmy as a platform. Though there's a very likely chance, it looks like they haven't solidified whether they're leaving or exactly what they'll transition to, but I fundamentally enjoy the philosophy Beehaw shoots for, so I'm interested to see what goes on next regardless.

  • I never listen to him myself, but everything I hear of his lyrics are genius on another level, I'm unsure anybody else can really compete, at least not as consistently

  • Gotcha, so it'd be "real g's are soft like lasagna"

  • If that's a review our terminology is getting a little... Loose

  • Difficult for me to recommend since they're discontinued and likely pricey, but I still use a Steam Controller daily and find that with thorough bindings it can handle a surprising amount of PC only games, so I'd personally recommend that if it can be had at a fair price.

  • I tried to look on their home page and didn't see any stickied post about that, nothing on their mastodon recently seems to say anything about it, I'd feel a little awkward joining their discord just to spy about it since I'm not actually a Beehaw member, I'm on Kbin, I just enjoy their posts and community, I would also be very interested to know if they're confirmed moving shop.

  • I wish Ross the best of luck in that, it's almost our only hope to getting this required legally, though separating games from licenses for a product into a service begins to get weird and means even if Ross wins it likely won't cover everything, but it'd go a lot further than we have already.
