Every generation has some product/ingredient that they didn’t know was dangerous at the time: tobacco, lead, asbestos, etc. What is that item for this generation?

  • I haven't seen studies so this is just conjecture, but I believe its the same material. Likely it does, but not close to the same magnitude of car tires.

  • Nah, its not free, all those years of time you lost with your parents while they worked was the trade as a child. Becoming a latch-key kid and the life-long childhood trauma of that is the trade.

  • Plastic, PFAS, CO2 Pollution, Tire dust (leading problem is cause of Asthma), Leaded fueled small prop planes (still standard), Oil, Industrialized agriculture (destroys nutrients in soils so food does not have it, produces tons CO2), many more.

  • Yep. An authoritarian upbringing leads to a hierarchical belief system. Changing that requires addressing trauma that they avoided their entire lives, recreating their entire world view, and admitting they were wrong. Such a giant ask for these types of people unfortunately.

  • It doesn't matter for me here, I'll stop using it soon as its no longer novel. I have used Obsidian, works well. Also just spreadsheets with checkboxes, that one is not mobile friendly though.
