  • If the person behind the hostage is a serial killer who is certain to keep killing, yes. We're talking about an organisation which has broken every ceasefire Israel has ever made with it.

  • And it would be zero had Hamas not started the war by raping, abducting and murdering random Israelis, including children. Also, this war would end today if Hamas surrendered. I'm not blaming the IDF for striking at Hamas, I'm blaming Hamas for starting this war. I'm blaming Hamas for hiding in Gaza's civilian population. I'm blaming Hamas for every single death in this pointless war.

  • No. Which is why I don't support Hamas or anything that helps them.

  • I'm not, I simply disagree with you.

But if you are unable to understand that, bye, blocked ya, since that's apparently what you want. Hope you can sleep with the knowledge that you're supporting a group that proudly parades stripped, raped and broken women through the streets.

  • Charming. And no, Isreal cannot simply allow in supplies because it would also be suppling Hamas, and it would potentially open a route for the smuggling of actual military supplies.

  • How do you propose the logistics of providing supplies to Hamas-controlled areas should work?

  • War. It's a conflict in a highly urbanised area with one side (hint: not Israel) actively using civilians as human shields. Of course there's civilian casualties, that simply can't be prevented in war, they can't even be minimised if one side actively prevents it.

If you care about Palestinian lives then you want Hamas to surrender or to be destroyed. If you don't then all you really want is to prolong the conflict, because Hamas has made it abundantly clear that they will not stop attacking Israeli civilians, forcing retaliation, and that they do not care one bit how many Palestinians die in that retaliation. They cannot be negotiated with.

Edit - it's remarkable how hard y'all are ignoring who started this escalation with an utterly and inexcusably barbaric attack on innocent civilians.

  • And that's Starfield's big problem. I've played the game and other than most people here I genuinely enjoyed it (and I'll die on my "at least the role-playing aspect is better than Fallout 4" hill), but it's also the first Bethesda game that I feel I've completed. I'm pretty sure that I've finished the handcrafted content. There's no random interesting caves, camps or whatevers with unique design, little quest or just a bit of lore to stumble upon, just endless procedurally generated wastes dotted with the same three dungeons on repeat.

  • If they distribute the drawing, yes. And the difference is that a drawing is immediately recognisable as a drawing, but an AI generated image or video isn't necessarily easily recognisable as not being real, so the social consequences for the person depicted can be much worse.

  • Even if you don't want to consider it CSAM, it is, at the very least, sexual harassment. The kids making and circulating these pictures and videos should be facing consequences. And the fear of consequences does offer some degree of protection at least.

  • Not necessarily the same people. And besides, just because you don't like A doesn't mean you have to like B, maybe you prefer C or D.

  • For the record - that's generally also how it works in Europe. Or well, Germany at least. Also there are independent ATM companies (Euronet and the like) not affiliated with major banks who charge outrageous fees to everyone desperate enough to use one of their ATMs.

  • I'm with you. I was in the market for a new laptop earlier this year and it was surprisingly hard to find something that didn't look like it was designed by and for a bunch of teenagers. Not that there's anything wrong with that if that's what you enjoy, but it's thoroughly not my style.

  • Same thing that's up with it in the US. They offer simple "solutions" to complex problems, and (at least in the UK and Germany, not sure about the Netherlands) they're fuelled by right-wing media conglomerates.

  • What VPN offers 12 months for $12 and is there a catch? I'm happy with Proton but having something cheap and trustworthy to recommend would be nice.

  • It's for the projectionist, and it's probably outdated these days. But until digital film distribution became common it was actually a fairly involved job.

Edit: and if you go back to the silent film era the scores used to be played live. So maybe it's even a holdover from that.

  • Because mobile providers charge by the message for MMS. It's not like there's no benefit to being able to just message people who don't have InsertAppName, it's just that actually using your phone's normal texting app is ridiculously expensive.

  • I don't pretend to be. It just strains my willing suspension of disbelief beyond the breaking point. I don't even know why it's the spore drive that does it instead of telepathy or fucking Q, but it is.

  • As far as I know they still support some of their old Intel lineup, but it's all ARM for new devices now.
