  • Sure, you're not wrong, but I'm really really tired of getting 'it's a start' action on issues like this and the irreversible change of the climate. There's a very real timer ticking on both these issues if nothing changes and based on history I'm really skeptical were getting anything but another 'its a start' on some other small facet of this issue, ad nauseam until it's not an election year.

  • Sure, here you go, exactly the kinds and sources and data insurers are going to look at https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/72/wr/mm7226a9.htm

Seems to imply the biggest risks for insuring are Black men. White men come in even lower than Black women. I'm sure actuaries will pull more than just this graph but it's pretty indicative of how it will shake out. Unless of course you have some sources you'd like to cite that imply otherwise.

  • I suppose better than nothing but 'better than nothing' is a low fuckin bar for intervention in ongoing genocide. Unless there's reprecussions on the state of Israel, who condones and empowers settelers, this seems like sanctioning the Houthis while simultaneously arming Iran.

  • People in politics are painting infrastructure bills as progressive these days, so feminism is one of those leftisms just like repaving roads and fixing bridges that are years out of spec. The overton window must be the window on a plane because it wont stop moving.

  • Just here to remind everyone while piracy is important, it's also very important to teach the less tech savy among your acquaintances how to pirate too. Conglomerates only learn when their bottom line is effected after all, so teach all your friends how to hoist that black flag.

  • The overwhelming majority of gun deaths are sucide, organized crime also has a high share. The insurance premiums are not going to be based on whos more likely to do a mass shooting they're gonna be based on every payout they prospectivly have to make. So people who will get the highest rates will be minorities and those seeking mental health treatment. So the best way to keep your premium low would be to be white and not seek mental health treatment. That's not exactly behavior I would like financially incentivised.

  • It's being applied to me now. Every thread talking about millennials political preferences top comment is always 'then they should actually vote' despite the fact that I havent missed an election. The least we can do is keep the same consistency here. Im not here to coddle boomers and treat them in higher regard than how we get treated. You get what you give and the majority of boomers are also getting exactly what they voted for. Must be nice, that's not a luxury my generation has.

Also whos being condemed? Are you suggesting honoring the democratic outcome of a vote of a group is condeming them? If so then who exactly did the condeming? No one says I'm being condemed when I have to live with shit I didn't vote for, the comparison is ridiculous.

  • It's always they're not a monolith and true enough but if a literal vote doesn't represent the overall will of the group then that's implying thay democracy doesn't work. If most of them voted for this then thats what most of them wanted. We have exit polls and data on this, it's not as if anyone's attributing to a group characteristics that only a few of them have, it's the clear majority, year over year.

  • These proposals would ultimately manifest in insurance for white peopel costing less and black people and hispanics costing more. All this does is price minorities out of gun rights. The whites will be fine, good thing they're not the ones comitting the vast majority of gun terrorism . . . Oh wait I've just received some devastating statistics . . .

  • They constantly deliver ahead of schedule for me and I assume it's exactly because of what you said. They can deprioritize non prime shipments but at some point it just doesn't make sense, and infact costs money to not move it. Why spend wearhouse space on already sold goods when you could fill that space with things that can make you money you haven't received yet.

  • Amazon moved a distribution center near me and now I basically get what prime delivery used to get me without prime. I can still get free shipping so long as my cart total is high enough, and I think that will remain because even independent retail websites and shippers offer that, so Amazon doesn't want to give people more reason to use them less. Getting rid of prime was easier than soooooo much other stuff I've ditched.

  • Sure, but something wild like 65% (and I think thats one of the lower figures) of all PPP money went to things other than what it was supposed to be for. They still forgave something like 75% of all of them. Imagine if half of all students used student loans to buy a Lamborghini, then they forgave more than half of all student borrowers. Wildly different rules for Americas ruling class. No big political or media push around the PPP loan forgiveness either which is strange, almost like the student loan forgiveness uproar is media fabrication to protect the SLABS that rich investors hold. Im sure few would be mad about loan forgiveness if all of the loan went to the employees paychecks during covid instead of the employers bankroll.
