  • How am I the one not trying to have a discussion? You think simply because I don't agree with you it means there's no discussion? Then wouldn't you also not be trying to have a discussion? If you tell someone they are making things political, expect them to respond, you're talking about them. If you don't want to talk about politics just say you don't want to. You've yet to respond to those points but insist they mean the same thing, and then you say I'm the one trying not to have a discussion. Hilarious.

  • Thats literally an attempted refutation of everything is inherently political. Its already political, no one you're talking to made it political, they just reminded you of something you tried to ignore. So again if you just dont want to talk about politics, just say that instead of trying to refute that pretty much everything is inherently political. Words have meaning, say what you mean, because implying that the person you're talking to is making thing political is different from saying 'hey im not trying to talk about politics' and it doesn't automatically mean the same thing as "Why do you make everything political", especially in forms of communication like text only. Hell, one of them is a question and the other is a statement, so why would anyone who doesn't want to talk about politics prompt someone with a question that in guaranteed to get an answer that's directly about politics?

  • Some like the power, some have a sense of duty, but more than most COs would be hard pressed to find a job they can reasonably move to and make anywhere close to the same amount of money. Add in the pension plan and the financial incentive is massive. Overtime pay can easily put some COs well into six figure salary range, ive heard one man went all out on work and OT for a whole year grossing well over 200k because he was trying to grind out his daughters college money. You dont find that much money with these benefits elsewhere easily. Where im at is actually expirencing a drastic reduction in the applicants for CO school/training so with the pool of workers shrinking the avliable overtime and compensation in general will likely only rise.

  • A posted a comment below about a CO I know and yes correct they dont care about the guards. I don't want to get to specific and give away where I'm talking about but simply showing that a problem also effects the guards never helps. If it only effected the guards then maybe.

  • Im familiar with a CO in one of the more 'humane' prisons in the country. Recently transfered inmates who are trying to power pose to their new cell block often get told they can calm down there by the veteran inmates. The prison rewards good behavior enough that it's created a shift in inmate culture, AND STILL, there is tons of things that more than most people would consider much less than humane. This is another one of those deeply systematic problems that I guarantee you'll find shades of in your own community.

  • I have a conspiracy theory that Musk utilized Russian troll farms to hype up his pump and dump scheems when those were his big thing. That would explain the meetings with Putin, the proclivity to do what Putin says, and his purchase of twitter under the guise of removing the bots and free speech then not removing the bots. He probably just removed the evidence.

  • Maybe it's a trap. Perhaps its harder to punish musk for his Ukraine shortcomings, but if he decideds to fuck up under federal contract with the MIC of the US government . . .

I only think of this because I cant imagine the pentagon thinks highly of him, hes a borderline (possibly unwitting) russian apologist at best and asset at worst. Usually Im not so sure bad things happen to rich people, but crossing the MIC would probably be the line that does it if anything does.
