  • Okay... Should congress likewise be allowed to pass laws without any oversight from the president or the courts?

Should the court not be constrained by the laws created by Congress and approved by the president?

(Just to be clear, that's a fuck no...)

What the hell do you mean half the population doesn't think checks and balances should be maintained? It's a very fundamental concept of our governmental structure... If you suspend the system if checks and balances, the partisanship we're currently struggling with becomes an absolute nightmare, for everybody... Imagine a president that can willingly ban whatever they don't like... A congress that can fund everything, or nothing, at will... Courts that can convict on feelings...

    Y'all crazy

  • Are they going to pay for anything that ever inspired them? Every time you publish an article, you owe a dollar to every English teacher you ever had? Fill out your taxes and you owe your math teachers?

    It's fucking goofy...

  • The Biden White House has also maintained the tariffs on Chinese products worth $370 billion imposed by predecessor Donald Trump.

That's a hell of a sentence :) I guess we can agree on some things... Tarrifs on china, truly bipartisan...

  • Can't read the article (acts like it's paywalled but the paywall doesn't even come up,maybe ad blocking is borking it), but let me guess... Every time a show gets big, someone splits it off into a new sub service, and people are getting sick of that shit and pulling the plug on the people they pulled the plug on cable for...

My kids hit me up for yet another subscription last week, because they wanted to watch a show. I was very close to cancelling everything instead, and teaching them some slightly sketchy skills, but I took the "high road" on it. They're getting close to the age where that ain't gonna happen anymore though :)

Consolidate yo shit media dudes. You got a finite limit on how many pieces of the pie can exist. When the slices get too small because you cut it into too many slices, nobody buys a slice anymore...

  • I imagine they'd specify that? There is a complete lack of any reference to priors, and in context, that implies there were (because they'd make a point to specify no priors in an article like this...), but just the life sentence on a rape charge, and dude wasn't paroled, seems a bit much, ya know?

  • Ok... There's a whole lot of fuckedupedness in Trump's statement, and in this comment section...

The "war" he's suggesting does in fact exist, it's a real thing, but the intended targets are Christian by happenstance... The persecution involved isn't persecution of a group being identified as Christian, it's persecution of a group identified as what is probably best described as "trumps circle".

He's projecting persecution of himself, and his close associates, to a religion that isn't the actual target at all...

It's a complete head fake... A sham... And everyone's addressing it as though they already accept that it's an actual fucking thing, on both sides... Y'all are commenting on this as though Christianity is actually relevant... It's not... The blue team isn't persecuting Christianity, they're persecuting trumps crew, who just happen to be Christians...

C'mon guys... Don't buy this fat fucks bullshit... There's enough people that'll do that on purpose already ;)

  • Right... But they spent $89m to prevent 104k in shrinkage...

If you're the executive at Walmart who handles loss prevention, and you put $89m into a program that reduces shrinkage by $104k, your new duty position becomes "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out". It's a gross mismanagement of public money, and while it was obviously glowed up considerably, that was what was implied In the title.

The lack of a comparison in overall losses specific to skipped fares before and after is a contemptible omission though, I'll definitely join you on that hill :)

  • What is a security system supposed to do when provided with the correct login credentials?

I'm gonna go with not give that user access to millions of other users' personal information...

I get your point and agree, but having a valid login shouldn't provide that kind of access.

  • Do I understand this correctly, that a court order states that one party can't post on their own social media about some other party, because a random third party might see the post and do the stupid?

A judge actually blessed off on this?

    There's more to this, right?

  • A couple quotes...

Be who you are and say what you mean, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

God, give me grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, Courage to change the things which should be changed, and the Wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

Both are difficult in terms of original source, but the best quotes usually are ;)

Point is, there's three classes of problems. Most are type one - not my fucking problem.

Type two is what you're talking about here, your problem, but you didn't cause it. I've found that like 90% of these require serenity, because you can't fix stupid... You kinda just gotta consider that until the light bulb comes on I guess? I've never had any issue with this one personally, it just always seemed self evident.

I've always struggled with type three, the things that are my problem and I caused them. That's the shit I dwell on, because you can't take it back, and sometimes, you can't fix those either. You gotta swallow the pill on the fact that you did a stupid...

You weren't the guy doing the stupid, ya know?

  • My father wasnt a great role model, so I got to see that movie on the big screen as a little kid.

The dog shit joint was one of the few parts I really comprehended completely, and the direct line to the sewer immediately made me think of it :)

  • This is a ridiculously well authored article, and it makes it harder to read than the typical "just say what the audience wants to hear" clickbait that news has become, but it's well worth the effort :)

Primary extraction (of rare earth metals) in the US is limited; only one active mine, the Mountain Pass Rare Earth Mine and Processing Facility in California, produces rare earth elements domestically.

That stood out for me :) I'd expect California to have more stringent mining requirements than anywhere else and be less likely to have a mine looking for these very contemporary materials... Dafuq is going on here Oregon? New England? Both have rare earth reserves, let's go...
