Colonization, slavery, even the Nazis. All of it was able to occur because people werent thinking about possible outcomes. Statues of colonizers and confederates are a tangible reminder that might help keep the understanding of possible outcomes in public consciousness, and maybe down the road that remembrance precludes a repeat.
It's specifically why Auschwitz, the site of one of the most horrific outcomes, stands intact to this day.
Personally, I think the next great incident of dehumanizing and persecution is very likely to be perpetrated by a very liberal mentality, in the name of trying to do good. You see signs of it every day. Some of the labels applied to me in other comments are indicative of it, and I said absolutely nothing In support of the shit I was labelled as. I'm a racist, I'm a colonizer, etc... said no such thing, but there wasn't any shortage of hostility and downvotes... It's a dangerous mentality.
I got a little jeep renegade that runs me like 350 a month...
First time I put gas in it and realized it had a 12 gallon tank, I was all like "OMG, why?!?". Then I drove 300 miles before the light came on and It made perfect sense :)
Full tank doesn't even get halfway to the $100 mark where you gotta reset the pump to fill it the rest of the way, ya know?
500 a month could treat you a lot better at the gas pump.
Gotta have more real estate for factory lights... Starting to see trucks with eight lights on the front going down down the road.
The ironic part is that the high beams usually disable all the aux lights, so if you see a newer truck with only two lights, it's probably got the high beams on, and if they turn it back to low beams to be "courteous", it turns on all the others and ends up being worse than if they'd just left the fucking high beams on.
I don't really give a shit about the penile compensation aspect of "muh bigguh truck", but fuck your wall of lights...
You're absolutely correct that "(anything)phobic" is not an appropriate term for bigotry. Being phobic is as much a choice people make as being gay is, and of all the various groups, classes, etc. the gay community ought to understand.
The issue you'll run into is common sense, and it's lack of being common ;). Good luck trying to get people to understand, accept, acknowledge, etc.
Ya know, in '94 I was stationed in Korea, they had bars off base that catered to us military, and they had "juicy girls", which were basically just women who went around looking for simps to buy them an orange juice for $20 (and they were pretty successful at it).
Anyways, most of the bars had one bathroom. You'd go in there and use the urinal and occasionally one of the girls would walk right in and use the stall.
It was weird as hell, but only once... After the initial "wtf" time, it was just meh, whatever, the OB beer's cheap enough :)
I agree with this... Getting people to turn up to vote in key places is the determining factor this time, same as last time. Biden won specifically because people showed up. It was very much a "not on my watch" kinda thing
It's pie in the sky to have polls this early, and even if it wasn't wildly premature to look at polls, they aren't great at actually predicting the outcome, because the people who conduct polls have a tendency towards polling people and areas that'll tell them what they want to hear...
Nobody wants to hear it though...
