I’m not the dev but my general feeling is that he doesn’t want to do anything like this. He seems to kind of dodge questions about payment or supporting him more. Which is a shame, cause I’d love to see more people contribute
Oh, no worries at all! Your post doesn't strike me as malicious at all. Just seems like we should be especially concerned with making the OPs feel "stupid" here :)
So it seems like you have 2 main points in your post (1 OP is overly worried, 2 sexual abuse is the real concern), so keeping both but with a more neutral tone:
You should not be worried about saying that a kid looks cute. The real concern that you’re hinting at with behavior toward children is anything that connotes sexual abuse, and the comment “that is a cute kid” is very different from that.
Or you could go for a positive tone:
You have nothing to worry about! Saying a kid looks cute is very different from sexualizing them.
First, there’s no mention of size of pay adjustment here. Second, sure, your point is valid, but in the context of this post, let’s not be ridiculous. This is a multiple-choice question, so sometimes you need to rank options and choose the best. No same person is more likely to stay at a company because of a ping-pong table in lieu of a better salary. Now if they’d said
An employee appreciation program, which includes such things as free meals and a recreation room with a ping pong table
that would be a different story. But as-is, it’s ridiculous.
Hmm, maybe there could be a way to give you the default “not logged in” feeds but then still handle other actions as your user. A setting for “use default feeds rather than my user’s” or something to that effect.
Or maybe something more like an aggregator for your different email accounts in your client? You could have two accounts: one on your server and one somewhere big (eg, lemmy.world). Then you could see their combined feed, and have a switcher for which account you’re performing actions from.
Actually, while we’re requesting things, I think it would be really slick if the pop-up included the sidebar text for the community. Maybe then it could include the full name with the instance, like you suggested
(softly) don’t…
