That’s kind of what I figured. I’m willing to bet that (at least for the moment) containerized Linux on M1 MacOS will run much better than integrated Linux on a half-finished port
Note: I ask this from a place of complete ignorance, having never owned a machine with Apple silicon…this is just for my own curiosity. With that said:
Is it better to put something like Asahi on there than to leave it MacOS? Obviously, if we could have fully-featured and fully-optimized Linux running on the M1, that would be ideal, but I worry that a port like this would be pretty janky for a quite a long time while they reverse engineer everything
Someone was uploading CSAM (aka CP) to !lemmyshitposts and most instances purged all image links around that time so as to quickly prevent it from being federated to other instances (and so they aren’t risking breaking the law by hosting it on their servers)
What an outrageous take. I am making an exchange that makes me happier. I get something; they get something. Otherwise I sit and wait and fume and get nothing.
I can want one thing and accept that my current reality won’t provide it to me without being an enemy of the cause. I’m genuinely shocked that such a hardline, absolutist mindset is the prevalent one in this community.
The attitude of being willing to compromise to get what I want, rather than waiting until my perfect conditions are met? I just don’t think it’s a reasonable expectation for people to stop thinking like that. I use compromise every day of my life - I used it ten minutes ago, to choose a slightly damaged monitor for less money over a brand-new, more expensive one.
I am of the mind that the faster we can get a few companies offering a four-day week, the faster it will become standard - or at least common. We saw it happen with WFH: Companies now have to expect to compete with offers that include remote work, so they either have to provide it as well, or improve other parts of their offer.
I would literally do any of those for a four-day week. It would be nicer if my job just sliced a day off, but since I know that’s unlikely, I’ll make sacrifices to get it here quicker.
Well I’ll ask the obvious question then - can we start removing things that don’t qualify as mild? If so, what has been the issue up to this point: That users aren’t reporting these posts, or that you didn’t want to overstep in your capacity as mod?
What are you talking about? I’ve been in a bunch of Tesla Ubers and it’s comfy back there and you get a great view. Definitely better than the average Uber
This one tripped on the starting line with that crucial typo, but I really agree with the sentiment. Maybe it’s pedantic, but a lot of the things that get dropped in this community are shitposts rather than memes. And you’re definitely right that a lot of them are not even memes at all.
