  • increased energy usage should come as no surprise regardless of the usage. It's the zero emission promises that were out of reach from their inception. everyone wants to do the bare minimum (if that) and it isn't good enough.

  • he's not using it as a "source", just to quickly summarize information and research he is familiar with already. this isn't some schmoe just repeating whatever google AI says, he is a very prominent researcher and physician in the field.

  • the app people are going to instead of TikTok is RedNote which is only built with the Chinese language. so some people are trying to learn Chinese to navigate the app.

  • so instead of 25 people learning Mandarin now there are 79 people learning Mandarin.

  • He's a family practice physician (not psychiatrist or researcher) who likes to write books and speak authoritatively on platforms like Joe Rogan about ADHD (amongst other things). His whole thing is to deny genetic factors and blame children for being too sensitive and parents for not parenting right.

    1. so what if no other manufacturers do it? Maybe they should be forced to.
    2. the hyperbole at the end of your comment is not necessary or helpful. We literally just saw a drone ground a firefighting plane in Los Angeles, so we know they can cause major problems at the worst possible times. Maybe it's not a big deal on an everyday basis, but in disasters like the Los Angeles Fires of course more idiot content creators than usual are going to have their drone in the air collecting footage.
    3. more and more people are getting drones so there are only going to be more and more problems as they grow in popularity.
  • I mean they are actually selling it now, there shouldn't be bugs like that making it to consumers.

  • i get this is a first gen but wow that looks awful. so many wrinkles. not mature enough to be revealed yet imo.

  • I'm gonna go ahead and guess he knows fuck all about rush Limbaugh.

  • narrator: it doesn't.

  • Facebook are going to do what Facebook are going to do, therefore we can't criticize what they do?

  • "fairly good" or not, the question is, is it better than a 3rd party service like the one Meta was using.

  • but their users will probably be better at putting accurate information than they are.

"they" (Meta) was not the one fact-checking, it was a 3rd party service. And I don't know why you assume a social media user base would be better at it, especially with highly politicized things like climate change, vaccines, wars, etc.

  • not according to the article:

The customers who filed the lawsuit claimed that they were "regularly recorded without consent" and that they would not have purchased their iPhones had they known about this ‌Siri‌ feature. A judge initially threw out the lawsuit because the plaintiffs did not provide evidence of Apple recording their conversations, so it was refiled with the accusation that ‌Siri‌ data collected had been used for targeted advertising.

  • being on retainer isn't a loophole for free lawyers. deploying those lawyers on a big class action lawsuit will absolutely cost them money one way or another.

and it's not a matter of being "too expensive" for apple. It's simply more expensive than settling. this isn't rocket science.

  • but broad consensus does not mean true.

to me this just sounds like social media passing the buck to their users with no regard for accuracy. sure, whatever you guys want to believe, go for it.
