I’m still waiting for swiftfin to become more polished. Still has problems with HDR, language/subtitle selection and surround sound. Once that’s fixed I’ll switch but for now, plex is a bit more polished on my apple devices

Nope, they aren’t. At least not just. DuckDuckGo uses Bing among about 400 other sources like Yandex, Wolfram Alpha, Yahoo! Search BOSS and even their own webcrawler. On top of that, they filter out and downrank content mills, pages with too much advertising and websites deemed to have low journalistic standards. So is literally bringing together the search results from all the sources and filtering out the garbage. And on top of that, they have way less ads and tracking than either Google or Bing

I can only recommend you try DuckDuckGo. In my experience, 99% of time, the search results are much, much better than either Google or Bing.

Do not underestimate Apple’s R&D costs. While yes, the new iPhones barely look different, their internals sometimes change drastically and especially the new processors are quite a feat every year. Apple‘s ARM SoCs have consistently been either among the top performers in the industry or, especially lately, the top chips outright. There’s massive R&D behind that. If course, they still have a hefty profit margin on every iPhone but it’s not just slapping a USB-C port into last year’s devices.

Although, the US price is without tax, while the danish price probably is (can only speak for Germany but to my knowledge, this is the same for all of Europe). Doesn’t make up the entire difference but at least some of it.

In Windows/Linux perhaps. There are far too few options. But combined, there are a lot of iPhones, iPads and Macs…

I mean, we also have freedom of speech here in Germany. There are (harsh) limitations around hate speech and insults but besides that you can say what you want.

What’s also a definite no are nazi symbols. Swastikas, SS runes, nazi salutes, etc. are only ever allowed in the context of education and art (like period films and as of fairly recently, games).

We also still do have regular day to day nazis in Germany and sadly the far right party AfD has been growing in numbers over the last few years, taking a lot of inspiration from US republicans in their talking points and rhetoric. Since July they are in a county government for the first time, having only ever been an opposition party until then.

Germany wasn’t built on the principles of freedom (of speech) but that human dignity is inviolable. That’s Art. 1 of our constitution. Only Art. 2 then defines personal freedom.

I mean, yea, obviously. Adjusted for inflation, the iPhone 15 without contract costs about as much as the iPhone 4 (it’s technically even $40 cheaper). The Pro models are much more expensive, of course, which was a bit less questionable, when pro and non pro shared the same chip. Now, the non pro is a generation behind… At least imo though, there’s not much reason to spend the extra on the Pro, at least not as an average user, especially since, performance wise, last years chip still outperforms the competition. But then again, I myself barely classify as average user since I’m a proud user of the 13 mini…

Well, they put last year’s chip in the phone, which does not support USB 3 speeds. If the non Pro iPhone 16 won’t support usb 3, then it’s deliberate kneecapping. Now it’s just unfortunate.

Transferring large amounts of 4K ProRes video off the phone and onto a computer. But someone who’s seriously doing that is buying the Pro anyways and that’s faster

That is micro-USB 3.0 and it’s an annoying connector that now is just as obsolete as micro-USB 2.0 and for some reason, around 2014, sone smartphone manufacturers thought it was a good idea adding it on their phones. Didn’t last long and got replaced by normal micro-USB again (which is much worse than lightning imo).

Yea but all you can eat buffets have a clear limit: The stomach size of the guests. It’s not an unlimited dinner. It’s specifically limited to the amount you can eat. (Besides that, a lot of all you can eat places have a time limit of an hour or sth).

If dropbox or google offer unlimited storage, then it’s only reasonable to use that storage. After all, that’s what you signed up for. It’s not abuse if they tell me it’s okay beforehand. As long as the terms of service don’t specify a limit, there is none. And if the terms of service do specify a limit, then unlimited is false advertising. If they don’t want you to use as much data as you like, they should have called it the 20TB plan or whatever they see as reasonable.

A way to offer unlimited storage but "cripple" it enough, so users won’t fill your server quicker than you‘d like, would be to only allow a certain size of uploads per month. So you have unlimited storage but you can only upload, say, a 100GB a month. That way, it‘d take almost a year to fill up a Terabyte and you can still claim unlimited storage. That would of course also cause backlash but you could technically still offer unlimited storage.

The windows 11 cpu requirement isn’t a requirement per se but a "it’s validated to work on this or newer". 6th gen Intel is no problem. Even 4th gen or older aren’t a problem, performance wise. The problem is the mandatory TPM 2.0 support. Intel CPUs only massively support that from 6th gen on and AMD CPUs even later (I think Zen 2). On some older boards you might have luck, especially if you buy a hardware TPM but my PC for example, running a i7 3770, only has a TPM 1.2 and no way to upgrade to 2.0. Now, there are ways to circumvent the need for a TPM all together on Win 11 but tbh, Win 10 installs perfectly well still on Hardware as old as Athlon 64 and in my experience even better than 11 anyways.

botw and todk are fps limited to 30fps by default due to their physics engine being tied to the framerate. There are workaround/hacks though to get them running smoothly in an emulator. (At least there is for the wii u version of botw in cemu, I’m not quite up to date with switch emulation but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t)

Never much liked ubuntu but admittedly, they did a lot for userfriendliness in the Linux space and a lot of great beginner (or people who don’t want to deal with stuff not working) friendly distros like mint, pop, etc are based on it, oftentimes debullshittet (e.g. neither use snap by default)
