  • Unfortunately the same could be said of the stock market. When it comes to financial planning for retirement or longer financial stability, one can choose between real estate or the stock market (among other choices).

I think the real issue with property ownership is having some reasonable limits and regulations. 1) no foreign investments in certain home types, 2) a cap/limit on the properties owned by any individuals (or LLCs they are associated with), and most importantly a complete ban on corporations owning residential properties.

Sure we could transition into removing real estate as an investment vehicle, but unfortunately I really can’t see a realistic path to this.

  • There is a serious concerted effort by right wing groups to attack several foundational programs in California. Several school districts are fighting back against ultra conservative candidates and out of area people coming in to disrupt Board meetings and trying to erode rights from vulnerable communities.

People may see California as a very blue state, but there are some very conservative/Red areas of the state between the big metro cities. (Think Trump flags everywhere)

  • Lots of these issues stem from NIMBY cities and towns that block shelters and higher density housing from being built. There are lawsuits from the State vs. individual cities to try and counter this. Add in abuse of Historical Districts by these same cities, and you realize that the state government isn’t some all powerful government entity that can easily force change.

Look at all the drama and fighting back against SB-9.

  • I was actually wondering why I hadn’t seen any updates recently in TestFlight! Getting sucked into a game is absolutely a legit reason to be afk for a while. Enjoy the time off.

Hoping to get a fix for the instance filters in a future version. They seem to clear when the app refreshes or some other random cause. I’d love to remove entire instances from my feed if possible.

  • Here’s what I see in my Settings warning section:

Command Line YAML configuration has moved

This stops working in version 2023.12.0. Please address before upgrading.

Configuring Command Line sensor using YAML has moved.

Consult the documentation to move your YAML configuration to integration key and restart Home Assistant to fix this issue.

  • Agreed. That and the other idea I saw about combining communities (on the client side) to pull together multiple communities with the same name into one joined view. Makes things feel less fragmented.

Of course with options to remove any particular instance from the join.
