For what its worth im a cis white dude and have largely the same experience, I think those apps just absolutely suck. I find Tinder is especially bad for that, fairly certain a significant portion of accounts are bots. Maybe try Hinge ? I have had more luck at least having decent conversations on there, though honestly I think it is just incredibly hard to actually form a connection with someone on a dating app. I find myself unable to maintain interest in talking to someone over text but also not overly interested in going on a date with anyone I talk to. Might just be a me thing but I feel like maybe it is true for a lot of people.

Finally got around to giving a proper chance to this moderately trashy urban fantasy novel my friend has been bugging me to read for over a year and I got so hooked, already on the sequel. Been so many years since I’ve read something that isnt political/economic theory or history, its like I have cleared some kind of mental block. Highly recommend to try reading not serious stuff sometimes if you’re like me and have struggled to enjoy that shit.

Just finished reading Parenti’s Assassination of Julius Caeser, and it was fantastic. I particularly loved his breakdown at the end of the book about the pitfalls of studying classical history and the barriers put in place that contribute to the narratives around it formed by “gentlemen historians” over the centuries.

Just found out an old friend of mine passed away a couple of months ago. Saw him for the first time in a while (pandemic, ect) earlier last year and it was clear he wasn’t doing well. Wish I had put more effort into trying to hang out with or talk to him.

Comrades who like video games if you havent played it the Tony Hawk Pro Skater remake is fantastic. Feels exactly like the originals just modern. Sound track slaps. Love getting new clothes and boards for my guy with cash i earned doing in game challenges and no other bs. High recommendation

Same here, was never seriously sick in about 5 years before covid, since late 2021 I am getting quite sick seemingly every 3-5 months.

City politics driving me insane lately, and thats just from reading the news and not participating in it. Can only imagine how bullet to the head inducing it must be to actually participate in it if you aren't a dumb as bricks careerist, petty real estate oligarch or some type of sociopath.

Also, impossible to buy cute shoes if you have large feet. I'm not even talking about women's shoes either, though that could be useful, just want a pair of predominately pink shoes for some outfits and its hard to find them in larger sizes it seems

That does sound cool and would be neat for coffee but not sure would work for what im looking for unfortunately. I also kind of want that now too though so thank you lol

We both just drink plain unflavored carbonated water, it just works out to be more cost effective to use a sodastream even with their overpriced canisters than to buy in cans or even 2L bottles.

Getting the gas for carbonation shouldn’t be a problem for me at least, places here will fill pretty much any canister for you for less than the sodastream replacement costs.

Just wondering about a machine itself that is not pro apartheid. I’ll have to do some looking online when I get a chance
