  • All applications of ai & assimilated aren’t nefarious… I’m shopping for a solution to help my company classify its data and do data discovery. I really hope I find a solution - which will likely be based on ai - because the alternative is either we don’t do the activity or the guys that will do it will be miserable. No one should have to spend days looking at very old data stores and wonder what’s in it - and then be accountable for the classification.

  • Amongst all my hobbies (am kind of a serial hobbyist…) I think fishing is the one that turns out the most expensive compared to my initial assumption.

Started with trout fishing into fly fishing the lure then carp… daaamn now I’m looking into a bassboat or a kayak…

  • Yeah I’m not saying there isn’t a good dose of enshittyfication but a lot / most of the smaller players are shitty altogether. Exception being Coolblue here in Belgium which has yet to fail me smaller shops are either price gouging or taking 2 damn weeks to process an order.

With Amazon at the very least I can watch Prime when I’m angry at their failures …

  • For me what drives me to Amazon is their logistics (1-2 days delivery, free delivery), their no-bullshit assurance and the gigantic inventory. 3rd can certainly be reached with a decentralised alternative. 2nd maybe even though rogue actors could hop instances and trust building is I guess challenging with an open model and 1st isn’t going to happen.

  • Yeah not shit that’s the absolute worse. Where are you from if you don’t mind me asking ? Either the world is turning to shit or I’m getting old and it’s showing because it all seems that it was « better before » when it comes to freedom.

  • Better but unreasonable. What about taxes, administration, health… a functional government is the desired state imho. With some overseen transparency (thanks europe for that) I’m starting to think we’re getting there to some extent for our data lives here. Now apparently not where you’re from… but that would be the problem. Albeit not an easy one to fix.

  • That relies on a country’s goodwill to implement such a idea. In europe with gdpr we are kind of going there and it’s already a massive mess. I find also kind of hard to define ownership; where does it ends? Is derivative data one’s ownership ? When properly anonymised? Plenty of fun in the field really.

  • Was putting 10 hours a day in my work before all that. Still putting the same hours in. Have obviously less purchase power. I don’t see no free time in this… I even had to learn some crafts to survive the inflation so it’s even less “me time” than before…
