  • i distinctly remember 10 years ago being so excited about the cloud stuff, it seemed so futuristic, tech had so many wonderful potentials, having it autosave and automatically be accessible anywhere seemed so amazing....

then the enshittification started. i would never dream of letting google or apple touch my files, let alone be the sole backup and arbiter of them. nothing gold can stay...

  • why are you defending them? sure, they're allowed because they're a big company so they make the rules, but that doesn't mean you have to lick their boots and say oh actually that's fine you made the choice. even big companies SHOULD be ethical. we DESERVE ethical treatment, furthermore, even people who didn't wade through the terms.

  • Anyway, if the concern is that Plex, the company, has access to this data, then yeah, you probably should have read the privacy policy a little closer.

come on, you know this is a non answer. also plex shouldn't have this data, it should be for the admin only.

  • seriously, i just spent half a fucking hour of my life getting bounced around by the shitty phone support which is complete ass, the the shitty website support which is complete ass, and the the shitty shitty shitty shitty fucking garbage fucking virtual chat support which is complete ass, and have gotten absolutely fucking nowhere, and apparently i am honor bound to fucking sit here by the door WASTING the fucking day waiting for this fucking guy to come at some magic unknown time. FUCK this DRIVES ME INSANE

  • don't care that it's for inactive accounts, this is a disgusting purge of culture. spam email is one thing but imagine all the literal irreplaceable memories stored. don't give a shit about their storage costs, it's google. sort it the fuck out.

edit lol keep weeping for a trillion dollar company. i don't use this garbage, i have no files i'm losing.

  • well good thing they're a professional company with professional engineers, glad they're taking the easy route

i bought it because i was at the store and thought 'damn a bedroom tv would be nice' and it was black friday. it's only 32" i hope it fits on the table, and if not i can rig something up, but either way, god fucking dammit these new legs are terrible design because now i have to think about this instead of them just having a damn stand in the center like everyone used to

was sort of what i was thinking
