hosts file block twitter/reddit/facebook/etc on all my computers. i guess i haven't done it on my phone because i can't be bothered [and regardless of how much i need a hit, i'm not gonna sit there on my phone browser for hours anyway]

OK please bear with me -- who in the name of god feels more comfortable or better or soothed about their life by calling a stranger, who knows nothing about their situation, who has a little button that calls the cops on them and could get them involuntarily hospitalized or shot.... I mean seriously I'm an introvert and whenever I'm that depressed I'm not exactly...outgoing.

It used to be a respected standard for developers and hosts to be somewhat open and friendly to 3rd party devs, because ultimately they're customers and they're helping recruit and retain customers, they should be treated with respect. just because it's innovative and disruptive to invent the machine gun doesn't mean it's good

We live at a time of artificial plenty and everyone's stressed. It literally doesn't have to be a bad thing, either. We don't judge people who take on prestigious corporate jobs that will by nature make them more stressed and worn down. They get money, 75% of us get to eat tasty food and treats.

my city is literally prohibited from using public funds for any type of train because of some GOP devil magic thing -- so all we have is busses, which suck because you're still beholden to traffic jams and lights and speed limits and roads. pointless and not even a sense of whimsy or transcendence

it's so depressing if you watch steve jobs introduce the iphone, he boasted how safari offered a rich browsing experience, beautifully rendering the full desktop version with intuitive controls to zoom and swipe around, no janky mobile sites. and look at us now. how we have fallen.

(honestly i think tim cook wrecked the company, he's a pure bloodless businessman, thinking only about numbers and value extraction versus innovation and changing the world, which jobs, for all his faults, objectively did)

i don't get why people complain about this -- i'd so so much rather type my order in myself, see what's in everything, make modifications easily, etc without having to talk to someone. get those workers on the line and help ease the load on the kitchen
