  • In Germany, yes. I think they are selling them worldwide.

They are pretty reliable, with a builtin oversized battery and small solar panel, remote control, and 5 years warranty iirc.

They offer an integration into smartness - I can look up for you later which one.

I am planning currently to get some, but without their solar, just normal power and my own smart relays to control them.

  • I’m not really passionate about anything.

That's nothing to blame. Many young people need a year more or a few before they know what to do with their lives.

My suggestion is to donate a year of your time to charity. You are going to gain lots of valuable experience, and see some parts of society that you could not have seen otherwise.

  • Then, apparently to mount the share to Plex, I needed to pass the pool from TrueNAS back to ProxMox.

    I doubt this part.

I think as soon as the NAS is working, the others (including prox) should use it, and no additional complications.

  • I would check in any case whether the person is really dead.
I would look around for other people.
Next I would try to find out where I am.
Then probably call the police with the person's phone.

No, I would never assume that I have done a murder.

And yes, our police works differently than the one in Hollywood movies.

  • investors in OpenAI’s commercial entity were capped at making 100 times their money

They should never be allowed to call this a "non-profit" (and probably even get tax exemptions?)

What a dirty lie in the first place!

  • Just to provide a different point of view:

My general strategy is to decentralize these simple condition-action things.

Where only one sensor controls only one action/state, the function should run on the device itself, not on HA. Either the sensor or the switch or both is "smart", and it is good that HA knows and shows the state, and you can switch it on/off there in the HA app, but it should not depend on HA. It should still work when HA is down.

In my case, Tasmota runs on all the light switches and a rule in Tasmota does the job.

  • So, You are society today. Your chance to turn it into a different society is now.

Treat people as worthy persons. Start building trustful relationships. Make sure they do not want to see you hungry and suffering and begging.

    Start with one.

  • 2 weeks without power

How will you get food and stuff?

You go there where it is, and ask. If they trust you enough to pay it later, ok. Otherwise you beg. And beg more.

  • One huge condition will be: has your country invested enough in a super reliable infrastructure?

Spain wasn't bad in this regard (like most western European countries) but that recent event was hardly foreseeable. And they forgot to prepare for the "black start", which prolonged the problem.

In the future, the grids must become even more reliable and fault tolerant.

Some countries should better increase their invests by magnitudes.
