You should consider one of them fights every day, and needs to survive all the fights every day, and actually has survived every fight so far - and the other one never...

Problem is, they still find it OK to make somebody's life miserable as soon as he is suspected of anything.

"Innocent until proven" has no real meaning, and I have never heard that someone got paid back for all the damage that was done to him during a false suspicion.

Synology is great because of the easy backup. But it is limiting your ideas for your new NAS. Leave it in "backup corner" :)

Play with ZFS, see how much flexibility it really has, and when you got that up, then write your first own smb.conf - and the new NAS is done.

For the host, proxmox. There's nothing else at the moment that makes more sense.

Samba makes the same files available via another protocol. Sometimes you prefer a web browser interface, or the nextcloud companion app, and sometimes you prefer the Windows explorer.

Is owncloud or an alternative enough, or do I need something more elaborated like TrueNAS?

I run a Nextcloud for my family and then serve the same folders again via samba to the same users. Don't need a separate NAS for this, just activate the samba service on the same machine.

Regarding the pirate ship, I don't know. I haven't tried that yet.

I want lawmakers to require proof that an AI is adhering to all laws. Putting the burden of proof on the AI makers and users. And to require possibilities to analyze all AI's actions regarding this question in court cases.

This would hopefully lead to the devopment of better AI's that are more transparent, and that are able to adhere to laws at all, because the current ones lack this ability.

I run my own nextcloud at home with several TB free on raidz. So no need to pay a foreign service for that.

When seeking personal acceptance, you depend much more on individual persons than on a culture / country.

Some of my favorites are:

In Austrian German, both are expressions of astonishment.

The fun aspects are: while they have nearly the same usage, the literal meanings of these expressions are the opposites of each other (in English "are you crazy" and "are you smart") and depending on context they can adopt all kinds of subtle additional meanings.
