  • You get to keep enough to maintain a very modest lifestyle in a low-cost-of-living area

Don't know why I must move to a cheap area... no, I would probably decide to stay here at least for half of each year. My lifestyle remains modest as well, but I would actually rebuild some parts of this old house.

the rest of it has to go towards improving the world in some way.

There's only a small part of the world that I could actually influence so far in my life.

With the billions, I would try to expand this radius of course, but only slowly, only reluctantly, trying to stay wise. I would focus at first on the ones that are closer to me, and mitigate their needs. You did not require me to improve the whole world after all.

  • BMI is for the ones who like statistics, and average, and putting people into categories.

In the "rare" ranges of height (low and high), that interpretation gets weird and often very wrong.

  • The well-known "hundreds of amperes" are exactly the strongest current that the battery is able to give, and that's what the engineer wanted.

The starter motor practically short circuits the battery in the first moment. The idea is to set the engine in motion as quick as possible.

  • using human-made works where the original authors didn't consent to or even know that their work is being used to train the AI. Are there any initiatives to address this issue?

    I don't think so.

Training is expensive, and they all want to make money. Most of them want to make insane amounts of money.

Therefore they don't care if it's illegal.

Free and Nonprofit usually don't start with huge piles of play money. OpenAI was the exception once before it got so thoroughly corrupted.

  • a handful of countries

Person A: "I meant in most civilized countries"

That person used the term without knowing ANY meaning of it, just as an excuse for knowing only a tiny fraction of the world but still making bold generalizations regarding the whole world.

  • For creating more bullshit.

These products are actually good, and cannot be improved anymore (or maybe only a tiny little bit).

But competition is tough, and so they feel the need for strong advertising.

Advertising departments cannot do anything but lie in such a situation: They create stories that tell of constant improvement. Revolutionary change even. Ongoing research. More blades on your razor every year, and always 10 times sharper than before. Your teeth 10 times better than last year, and therefore the toothpaste needs this new color.

Exxageration because when they promise so unbelievably much, then you are going to believe just a little of it - where the truth is: there is nothing.
