If your best bet is hoping someone is going to be on their best behavior with no real alternative, especially on a national scale, your plans are bad and you should feel bad.

Neither are most news outlets these days.

What does dystopia mean to you? This is akin to having sticky notes to remember things, just in a more compact convenient application. Having social lubricant is also not really a bad thing. If anything it can help people keep from isolating themselves from others.

It can be abused... but then again so can sticky notes. The problem isn't the technology, it's the application. Keeping track of friends and colleagues and having simple prompts to encourage interaction is good, keeping databases of dissenters and subjugation tools not so good.

Being beholden to laws and having laws enforced are not the same thing, unfortunately.

Capitalism and the "American Dream". The idea that if you just work hard and keep your head down, all your wildest dreams will come true.

I feel like you taking it as a dig instead of playful banter means it lives a little more in your head than theirs.

Maybe take these things a little less seriously.

It was a pretty bad point. They were entering a discussion about extremes and brought up center-right politicians.

So nothing specific at all just, kind of lashing out for the fuck of it by latching on to some random nonsense.

Biggest advice anyone can give you right now: let it go. Reddit can't hurt you anymore. Constantly obsessing about it, no matter how much it does suck, will only drag you down a spiral of contempt and despair.

Most of all, dont drag others down that spiral either. We've got much bigger issues than some reddit mods or whatever abusing power.
