  • Some lemmings become misguided, but right from wrong on this topic is simply factual and they will eventually find their way to the light of Linux, or they will suffer with the burden of their poor choice till death.

  • I wanted to go with a pi for my HTPC but I have a Plex server and all my movies are full bitrate 4k files straight from the UHD blurays and the pi couldn't handle that bitrate. Ended up building a small ITX PC with my old PC hardware and a new Intel A380 gpu.

I'm so thankful intel is doing their best to enter the discreet GPU market. Such banger cards for so little.

  • That's crazy! If you don't mind me asking what do you typically do on your machine and how much time do you spend on it?

I'm just curious because I spend a lot of time on my PC and can only imagine how horrible all the stuff I do would be on that hardware lol

  • "AI heavily increased GPU prices" Nvidia one of the greediest companys around increased the prices of GPUs, not necessarily AIs fault because nvidia is in direct control of their card prices.

Take a look at Intel's new GPUs, they are actually priced in a way that isn't fist fucking the consumer.

  • I still order from them although it's definitely gotten worse and the website feels like It was designed exclusively by the marketing team and high-up executives instead of web engineers.

Honestly, I typically gravitate towards Amazon over Newegg these days, but Newegg does have a lot more options for computer hardware, so I still order from them. I just ordered an ITX motherboard and SFX power supply from newegg yesterday actually because amazom didn't have the products I wanted.

  • Same, my most played game ever. I find it funny, at least to me, a game from 2007 thats barely supported by the dev is significantly better than the other modern derivatives of tf2 like overwatch and marvel bandwaggon money maker.

  • Things aren't always black and white. It could turn out to be an okay intermediate. I'm not too mad about the loss of competition here because there are quite a few new EV makers that are attempting to succeed in the market.

  • You definitely are right some things are worse, but I more so meant quality of life in almost every single aspect for people that are alive. No shit, there are atrocities across the world still and things locally suck in many ways to varying degrees for a significant portion of the population in the world. Either way you can't argue I'm good faith that the average humans quality of life hasn't gotten exponentially better over the past thousand years. And I think that trend will continue into the next thousand years.

  • I just disagree on the infinite growth being unsustainable thing. Humanity, in my opinion, is destined to expand to the stars where we will continue to grow Indefinitely on a time scale that actually matters to you and me.

Obviously, that could not happen if we somehow all die, but despite all the doom and gloom, I really don't think that's likely.

  • "Has almost made the planet uninhabitable" The Earth is definitely worse off since we have proliferated, but this is such a clickbaity untrue statement.

Humanity has and will continue to cause changes to the world that are negative, I agree, and that sucks. But like it or not, humanity is good at adapting and surviving, and we will be fine, even with the worldwide population overall continuing to grow for a very long time into the future.

  • The two biggest issues off the top of my head are rural towns in Japan will continue to lose population and completely disappear, and there won't be enough young working people paying into health care and social funds to support the old non-working population. I think there are a lot of other major negative impacts Japan will face as a country but I'm just not that knowledgable on the subject.

I assume we just have fundamentally different views on this topic because I really wish humanity would change to a more scientific and explorative approach entirely, where we expand outward into space and become a multi-planetary species, which will need a huge sustained population growth to support. I assume you don't support that.
