  • Unfortunately, this post as it is currently formatted breaks rules 1 and 2 in our sidebar so I will have to remove it. This type of post is more appropriate in a community like Today I Learned, which is not focused on tips and tricks to make your life easier.

  • Thanks! I looked at our recent posts and I do see that those with source links tend to be more upvoted and spark more discussion, but I don't think the community is busy enough to make it a rule just yet. I am happy to note in the sidebar that citing sources is likely to help your post become more popular, though.

  • Unfortunately I will have to lock this post. There have been multiple reports about comments, and it has nothing to do with the OP. We have plenty of new content to monitor today and I assume new posts will be coming in about the updates to r/place today. I hope OP will start a new post with updated pictures. I wish we had the ability to lock just one thread, but we do not.

  • If we are advertising Lemmy or the Fediverse, we want to do it in a way that shows we are (on the whole) less toxic than the Reddit spaces we left behind. Some Reddit users may see the "fuck Spez" as a glowing endorsement of Lemmy but others who are looking for a place to discuss things in a more civilized way may not. Those who are likely to both seek out and remain on Lemmy.world once they find us are also likely to fall in the second group, so it's best to be careful.

  • Thank you for having a respectful conversation with me even though you don't agree with the rules. I will think about rewording that one to be more specific. Today has been very busy for me because of the r/place threads.

  • As I've explained elsewhere today, I don't mind if you're using this community to plan a brigade at r/place today that says something like "Join Lemmy" but if you're planning to do something like make a large penis and put "Lemmy" next to it I'd rather you plan that somewhere else. Lemmy.world admins do not want us doing something that makes the Fediverse look bad on Reddit, much less planning it on the site.

  • I didn't make the rules. I took over as top moderator yesterday. In general, we don't want you to use this community to plan a brigade in a way that would make the Fediverse look bad. I could reword the rule to include that. It hasn't even been an issue until today. It's the first time I've seen it happening in the comments.
