  • I'm just thankful that the films left out the majority of songs and poetry and songs that padded out the books. I read the series years before the films and put it down a quarter way through Return of the King because of the lyrical nonsense.

  • After the divorce, my dad got a top of the line desktop with the biggest crt monitor is ever seen at that point. It must have been 19-20". He didn't know shit about computers, but he knew he wanted the biggest ones when he walked into best buy.

He never did a damn thing with that powerhouse but watch porn, a fact I unfortunately stumbled upon when clearing all the malware from shady Y2K era porn sites.

Folks, never Ever learn your folks sexual preferences.

  • Somehow, I grew up in the one neighborhood in the city that hasn't had a spike in value in the last couple of decades. My mom refuses to move out to a retirement community (at this point she would need assisted living). She likes to talk about improving the property and what color she should paint the upstairs. Watches flipper shows all day.

I don't have the heart to tell her that I have no interest in inheriting the property and that it will be a huge burden to liquidate all of the 'antiques' she has gathered over the last 80 years that now stink of cat piss and many colors of mold.

She's always been there for me in my darkest hours, though, and so has that shit mid century ranch.

I'll still let her win at Wheel of Fortune, as long as she can remember my name.

  • This actually happens. Had a relative that bought one of a row of townhouses being built back in the 60s. The company building the houses thought it would be a sweet incentive to include a piano with each one, so now everyones house in that row has a busted old stand up piano in the basement that's impossible to remove without some sort of demolition.
