  • In all likelihood, they've been open for business to make it easier to nab intellectual property from the rightful owners. China has probably just decided they've learned enough to make their own "homegrown" products, and can safely kick all the western businesses out of the market.

  • Like all these multi-level-marketing scams, the scam part is that you have to buy your stock from the company/from your "upline", and then whether or not you make money depends on you reselling your stock.

John Oliver did an excellent video on the overall topic. Definitely worth the watch.

  • Full disclaimer: I haven't signed any agreements or anything with the company to build a house for me yet. True Built Homes just comes well recommended by a couple of co-workers of mine, and I'm working on moving in that direction myself.

  • It's not that far off. I'm near Seattle, and make approximately the same as the average RN in Washington State (~$100k), and I'm in the early stages of purchasing some land and building a house on it for myself. You can get the house built for around $250k, and the land for less than $100k if you shop for it. Which is certainly interesting given the average home in Washington State is $500k+.

  • I mean, I don't like the fact that abortions are necessary, for any of the very valid reasons to get one, because they can be very traumatic, and underscore a lot of the socioeconomic problems in this country.

I also recognize that, as a man, it isn't my job (/I have no right) to tell women what they can and can't do with their bodies. So I'm as pro-choice/anti-judgement as I can get.

  • No they shouldn't. However, the houthis are still the aggressor in this situation. They are attacking international shipping in international waters, and blaming America for their own actions. To say it is the fault of the US that ships are being attacked in the Red Sea (as you are so heavily implying) is pretty fucking naive, not to mention irresponsible.

  • Near as I can tell, Iran sold the plane to Venezuela in 2022, but it has been grounded in Argentina since then [for some reason I don't quite get]. Argentina is trying to score brownie points with the US, so they handed the plane over to Washington, and that's how we got this headline.

  • The advice I heard (which, granted, was given in the context of moving around internally to my command) was that you'll hate any new job for the first year, and to give it at least a year and a half before looking to move again.

That said, there will always be jobs you just absolutely cannot do for one reason or another, and don't stick those out to try to make the resume look better.
