  • This is an incredibly tenuous article with single cases that don't share methods between them being used to build an argument that all those methods are part of a larger group of online murder instruction. That Luigi evaded police for days was evidence that he'd learned tradecraft on the Internet rather than the incompetence of the police state and obvious tactics like "don't look at cameras".

  • Name a single protest taken over by an outside group. It's not something that happens. Maybe some of the white supremacy groups whose presence alone requires people to reject them or be tainted by association, but nothing on the left. That's not an actual problem on the left, much less one "on the left forever".

My first protest was organized against the Iraq War, but in practice also contained more broadly anti-Bush protesters as well as groups promoting third parties, communism, and veganism. None of those were a problem or threatened to take over the protest in any way.

  • They may even be able to avoid risk hidden away in their bunkers with well compensated staff, but they don't want that life. They want to be able to go out to dinner and parties and be seen as above the plebs. They don't get to have that while their day to day actions oppress, maim, and kill the masses.

  • It's not the conclusion someone should draw from this poll, but it's the thing these authors want front and center. They won't show us the actual poll results, but that is far from the only disconnect and certainly a minor one since few Democrats think that's a primary focus, but it's the only example they provide of issues respondents believe are more broadly prioritized by leadership than the actual responses. It's at most a minor point, but the authors elevate it to first paragraph material even while the other discrepancies are much higher.

  • Love how this author's hand wringing piece about by the calcified establishment, he reaches out to Lis fucking Smith to be the voice of the fresh new insurgency. Even when they have an opinion piece worriedly highlighting the failure of centrism, the New York Times is still the New York Times.

  • "This" being the described story from the shooter's perspective. He made assumptions and that's what was reported in the story. I'm not sure how much of the narrative we should assume is correct. Not that they're lying, just that people make mistakes and memory becomes iffy in stressful situations. The video doesn't match the peacekeeper's order of events.

  • I think it was volunteers who had taken on the responsibility of responding to threats to the protesters. They weren't specially blessed to be armed, just wearing vests to let other people know they were friendly and carrying for defense. The guy with the rifle was probably also legally allowed to carry a weapon but was doing it in a way that seemed threatening.
