  • I never understood the whole fairphone thing. Theres way more phones on the planet than people. The most fair phone is just buying something 2nd hand for cheap. Save it from a landfill. I got a 150$ Pixel 6 a couple years ago, put graphene os on there, and i dont expect to get another phone until it literally stops working lol.

  • Not sure about CalyxOS but Graphene os has users so you could just switch to a different user and show them that and they probably wouldnt know to look for other users. Or you can disable apps, and then enable them again later. Disabling saves all data but hides the app and archives it. So it would only show up in the full app list in the settings not anywhere else. Not sure how thorough their checks are tho.

Personally tho if i was gonna go through a US border and was worried about my devices being checked id just back it all up to an encrypted external ssd, stick it in my checked bag, and wipe my devices. Then restore them once ur through.

  • “Gramsci shows that one of the main historical concerns of the Catholic Church has been to control the reading and the diffusion of Christianity, blocking the rise and spread of popular, autonomous and base level interpretations and thereby saving the purity of the historic doctrine. […] Many Marxists act the same way. Their biggest worry is the purity of the doctrine. Every time that historical facts challenge the doctrine or show the complexity of the practical operationality of elements of the theory, they deny that these elements are part of the story of Marxist theory and doctrine. This is, for example, what doctrines of betrayal are built on. Every movement that appears to stray a bit from these ‘pure’ models that were created a priori is explained through the concept of betrayal, or is explained as ‘state capitalism.’ Therefore, nothing is socialism and everything is state capitalism. Nothing is socialist transition and everything is state capitalism.” – Jones Manoel, Western Marxism, the fetish for defeat, and Christian culture

  • 不, 你不明白。如果某件事有效,那它一定是坏事。_哈哈哈哈 《开玩笑啦》

  • "We should emulate the imperialist welfare state not discredit it!" 我不喜欢你鬼。 《 。…… 。》

  • I live in the USA and its so bad i just cant interact with most people. They are basically entirely vibes based. They dont research anything if they hear a new claim they decide if its true based on if they feel like its true. You can literally show them evidence and most will be like "nah thats bs". I made a comment on 小红书 recently about how 54% of americans read below a 6th grade level and my replies are FULL of americans saying "uh i can read" .... can you really?

  • I think the funniest part about that spam message is they didnt even try to do a good picture. Like it looks like a screenshot of someone in a early morning zoom meeting about to fall asleep. If your gonna try and catfish why wouldnt you choose a better photo??

  • Have you checked that your motherboard supports that cpu? And that if it does its fully updated? A lot of motherboards will update with support for new cpus and i think also there are some boards that stopped support around the 5600s generation.

  • Im glad lemmygrad has strict reqs tbh. This place is like a haven. My little commie corner of the internet where i can talk about how cool stalin was without anyone throwing a fit, and getting mad that he killed nazis lol.

  • I read somewhere once that the only reason the USA has a culture of having free to use bathrooms in businesses is because people would just go wherever otherwise back in the day. Like oh i cant use your bathroom? Cool lemme take a leak on your door step then.

  • Do they act approachable? people usually give hints if theyre open to chatting. If they wear earbuds or something it usually means they want to be left alone for example. If there arent any red flags like that to tell you not to bother them just start simple and see how they react. Say good morning as you walk by, smile and wave, but don't try to start a full blown convo. See how they react. Do they seem startled, uncomfortable, or nervous? Probably leave them alone. Do they smile back and return the greeting happily? Thats a good sign. Maybe next time you see them say something like, "Hey! Seems like were always here at the same time. You work nights too?" If at any point they give signs like, short non-commital answers, looking around and not at you, being annoyed nervous etc, they dont wanna talk and you should say bye and go do your own thing.

  • i did it like january 5th

  • 哈哈哈哈 这是一个秘密 In all seriousness though yes they know. Deepseek just doesnt allow politics. 小红书 and social media have similar rules. Politics in China is serious not something people need to talk to a hallucinating machine about, or discuss anonymously online. You can see why this is a bad idea if you look at the USA today. Its best to discuss in person and do so calmly and rationally.

Remember chinese netizens have access to all the same information westerners do online. Many speak english, and a VPN is easy to use to go on other sites.

  • They arent 100% sure on the size but itll be a regional disaster. Few hundred square miles of destruction. And theyll be able to evacuate the area before hand. Itll land somewhere between south america and india theres a line map you can find of the area that could be hit and thatll get narrowed down as time goes on. We will know where its gonna hit far in advance if it does hit.

  • Yes we would? This isnt a planet killer. Its a city killer. Plus theyll know where itll hit and can evacuate the area before hand. There is no reason a single person should die from this rock unless someone does something stupid.

  • Yeah working again now

  • I cant connect either

  • Not sure if your in the US but i am gonna put some tips in that i use to make money stretch farther.

One huge one is cell service. Mint Mobile requires you to pay by year, i usually use my tax return to pay it, but you can get basic service for like 200$ per year. Unlimited call/text and 5gb data a month. Much cheaper than a typical provider.

Use the instacart app to find deals in stores then go to buy them in person. Instacart usually has the same deals as the stores altho some are app specific. Its a great way to see what deals are around. Dont order thru their app tho cuz its more expensive that way. Just use it to find sales.

In a pinch every adult can sell blood plasma once every 2 weeks (some places dont have the same times to wait. It varies). You can find clinics near you online. I dont reccomend doing it regularly youll get a scar, but if your desperate it could help make ends meet. Its like giving blood kind of, but they just take the plasma, and it takes longer.

Dont be afraid to hit up the food banks near you. Thats what its there for, and it can save you money on groceries.

Make sure there arent government services your not taking advantage of that you could be. Food stamps, Unemployment for your son, medicaid, etc.

Last thing i can think of right now is some easy cheap foods. I can usually find a big bag of russet potatoes for 5$ or so on sale, and its a ton of food for the price. Plus theyre healthy when cooked right. (Not fried) Rice of course is a good one, dried beans, one thats a bit more involved is a whole chicken. The meat itself is a decent price but the real value comes from using the drippings and bones to make broth after you roast it and remove the meat. You can use that broth to make soup with canned vegetables, or put it on rice to add flavor. Some things take time to make but if youve got people at home with time to do it it can save money.

Lastly for shopping it can be tempting to entirely avoid more expensive stores. Like Publix is one near me thats more expensive generally. Sometimes though the more expensive stores have BETTER sale prices. Theyll put something up as a loss leader for a crazy low price. If you go and just get those sale items and do your other shopping somewhere cheaper you can save on some stuff. Especially if its something more expensive those high end stores will put it half off and not care if they take a loss. Since they make it up elsewhere.

Hope some of this helps you to make things stretch a little bit more.

  • I have spoken to actual chinese people about their working hours. 996 is a thing. That is where you work 9-9 6 days a week. BUT they also made it clear that its entirely possible to make a living in china not doing 996, and the people who do 996 CHOOSE to do it because they make a ton of money.

I would think that is one of the main differences. While yes they have a similar culture its entirely possible to not work much and still have a good life in china. It usually isnt optional in capitalist nations with that same culture.

I have personally contemplated suicide due to how much i was working before, and let me tell you from experience if i would have had an option to simply keep my basic needs, food, and housing, yeah i dont even include clothes or healthcare idc id have been naked and well rested. That is what i would have done. But when you are stuck working constantly, exhausted, hurting, and just barely making ends meet, and know that if you stop you'll go hungry... that is what makes people want to end it all. The idea of death felt like a chance to rest. For it to all just stop.

In China if you are struggling there are places you can go that are run by the government that will help you. Even if your entirely unable to support yourself at all they will help you. If you see a homeless person and call the police in China they'll come (quickly) and check on them. They will offer the homeless person a ride to the nearest place to get help. The person can refuse if they want, but typically will go with them. They provide housing by either checking if you have a home already and helping you get to it, or by giving you a basic place to stay. They get you food. They provide job training if you are able to work, and help you find work and get on your feet.

Personally i have broken down sobbing before because i was sure I'd be on the street imminently, and probably freeze to death. In China it wouldn't have even been something i had to worry about.

I'll end my rant with this. I saw a post on xiaohongshu where an american asked "In China can you make a living by just working at a grocery store as a cashier?" the chinese response was "If you couldn't live comfortably doing that job why would anyone do it?"

  • I use Linux on everything and that finger print reader comment hit home. I have spent hours trying to get them to work. Just cant seem to.
