  • I would like us to roll through polling booths as a human voting tsunami so large people hundreds of years from now will speak of it like we do the mythical arrows that blocked out the sun. We need to hit the Right so fucking hard they begin hitting themselves in their confusion.

I want their entire party to eat itself and their modern ideology die. They need to Ouroboros the fuck off.

Then, after we have 200,000,000 d20'd their asses across every polling booth, we need to take our proud asses, mamba line up to our remaining politicians, and tell them to stop being fucking imbeciles because if we can come together for this, we can come together for their seats.

  • Stepping aside may honestly be the single greatest show of leadership Biden has done in his lifetime. If the polls are swinging, it's as much due to him making such a historical and respectable move as it is people surprised and refreshed by Kamala Harris.

  • I was blessed with a strong body. Even as I age my reflexes are still there. My whole body coordination still exists. I am still strong, physically adaptable, and can lose weight easily. Any physical activity is not yet out of reach I've found. However...

    My metabolism has slowed.

    Injuries heal slower.

I have some pains I didn't have before.

I do get tired more easily.

It catches us all in different ways. I've been luckier than most in some aspects, feel it I still do and it'll only get worse.

  • The committee absolutely demolished her during a hearing. Mostly because she kept trying to throw her weight around and wouldn't answer questions with straight answers. She also claimed, as the damn Director, to not have access to certain bits of knowledge the committee was able to obtain with minimal effort, from reports made by the Secret Service.

So yeah. Take what you will from that.

  • That's...not quite right. The demographic into these games like the length, it's great content and tells an awesome story. They want replayability. They want choices. They look forward to mistakes and seeing where it leads. To them length just means more time to enjoy every possible way of doing things.

  • This is interesting. People are calling him a mixed bag, yet looking into this he clearly supports expanding on existing solutions and has supported potential solutions that offer real-world results, such as expanded drilling. A realistic solution that makes sense in a swing state. The only outlier is Medicare for All and he'd probably say behind closed doors that he needed the votes and compromised with reinforcement of the ACA.

From what I remember and have seen recently, he strikes me as someone who is quietly playing the game. Becoming VP may allow him to step out and take more progressive stances. Or less progressive, of course. I'll have to look into him more, though it's my opinion he's a good pick, both for more favorable (for us) policies and for the larger election strategy.

I'll make an early call that he's more progressive than he seems at face value. Shame we don't have that bot which messages us X time later. I'd like to come back to this in the future, see if I was right.

  • Mental Decline according to people like this:

Enacting popular laws and policies that have helped support millions of families and individuals. Brought us back from Covid after some other asshole screwed the pooch. Literally used loopholes to provide aid to countless students and continues to attempt to rock that particular boat constantly. Kept us out of a worse economical recession. Gave us some fantastic memes.

    Actual Mental Decline:

Well I can agree, not simped for Biden, but sure as hell made up a lot of excuses for his mental decline.

  • Oooh no you don't. I ain't letting any of you off the voting hook. Why? Because we have more work to do after we send him off as a Nation. Apart from stopping a likely second coup attempt, I would like us to continue the momentum to enact true positive change through a grassroots movement so large it'll make old Bernie tear up.

  • Nah, Hilary was a fine choice despite her own personal and political issues. Despite not preferring her, I am rather confident that she would have not made a bad President. Perhaps not a good one, just also not a bad one.

Fucking shame what happened. Oi, Chaps! I say we bloody up this wanker with a side o' voting!

Sorry, channeling my stereotypical inner mocking British man.

Edit: I stand by what I said unless given compelling reasons to not do so. Maybe I'm remembering things incorrectly. It's been awhile. Make a case, don't care if it's a legitimate link. I'm happy to do a learn.

  • I'm not saying it isn't well played. The DNC always does small little tactic shit like this well. Their issue has always been the longer strategy. That grand reveal. Whatever the Right has, they have played the same game for decades. What's saved us is their infighting once they get any sort of foothold. For the first time in our history, so far as I am aware, we must focus on the Presidency as they have gambled everything on securing it. Stop that and we stop them. Don't stop them and we'll have a long and terrible fight on our hands.

That is unless some of their party is only playing ball and grow a pair when the proverbial shit meets mythical fan of shit flinging. I will say that we've seen moments where some of the party isn't comfortable with the way things have gone. Problem is, as fucking classics, they refuse to stand because they know they'll be pushed out of the club. Better to lay with the herd than be displaced and replaced, possibly by a non-Right.

  • And I hope she chooses to not lead on a charisma card and instead leans on what she knows best: How to present facts in a concise way. Let her writers make the words, and her coaches help her stand out. I want someone to challenge Trump directly and feel it is the best strategy. Every single stupid little thing he says that includes a kernal of any information should be immediately disputed, disrupted, and dissolved.

It won't make any MAGA come to our side - well a few might though I'm not holding my breath, it will increase not so much the trust in Harris, but our willingness to stand behind her word. Trust will then increase with time and the accuracy of her statements. There is a certain level of leadership in that.

  • People saying that Biden should have dropped out two weeks ago have never, in their entire life, had to make a life-changing decision. Whatever the result, I personally applaud his ability to put aside his pride and his ego for the sake of a cause larger than himself.

  • I disagree. Biden slowly eroded his chance. Key moments were the beginning of his reelection campaign, the debate, and the failed assassination attempt on Trump. Because this election period is all about image, Biden hasn't been able to keep up despite his intelligence and his strong and generally positive policies and record so far. In any other election year he'd be fine. At this moment he's missed his chances to come back stronger than before. If his team and the DNC ran PR for a large corporation we'd be laughing them off of Twitter. They bumbled and through their combined negligence Trump has gained a stronger foothold with specifically the Right.

I'll explain a little more: When you are in a position of leadership there is a default level of trust you should strive to maintain, and trust is very difficult to gain back. So...

    1. Biden should have not sought reelection. However, because he did he should have come out and said that he believes he is best equipped to beat Trump. That if it became clear he wasn't going to be able to that he would step aside for the best of this Nation and the people who put their trust in him. Boom. A leader who tells us straight and reinforces that he's here for all of us.
    2. Not sought any debate. It was always lose-lose without a monumental performance. Trump looks like normal Trump and ANY fumble lowers Biden's image. Had he had that showing 12 years ago people would have laughed it off and he'd recover and probably do okay. That isn't this timeline. Rather than going Dark Brandon and really leaning into his strengths, injecting caffeine straight into his bloodstream, and take a couple weeks of back-to-back calls, speeches, and talkshows with hard questions where he doesn't back down, he just...let it simmer. Recovery chance critically missed.
    3. The attempt on Trump's life. This secured Biden in Trump's shadow. Not because he lost any voters in particular, it likely didn't shift the narrative and expectations. What happened is because Biden didn't have a strong reelection foundation, despite great strides while in office, he allowed Trump to essentially camp out on his front lawn. Trump is a show man, which idiots mistake for charisma. Biden has moments of great leadership and a clarity which makes people want to follow him...at times. He lacks that spark which makes people want to follow consistently.

This leaves us with three options:

    1. Keep Biden in and hope his name is enough to pull him back up, or something happens and all but guarantees a win.
    2. Find someone people want to follow and have them be in the constant spotlight for the next four months. I can think of maybe four people who have the charisma and political clout to make this work. None of them have volunteered.
    3. Nominate an individual who can make strong arguments against every position Trump takes and who will have historical significance if made President. This leads us to Harris. She is not particularly charismatic. Far as I've been able to tell, she CAN argue like a mofo. Charisma inspires confidence because it inspires hope, or at least grants the hopeless a direction. Lacking that doesn't mean you can't lead, it does mean you need to be stronger in other areas, and more importantly it means you only have to lead better than the other guy. This means Harris's team needs a good writer for the moments where she needs to puff out her chest and square her shoulders, and also need to give her room to work her Prosecutor magic when needed.

So far as my information goes, this is where we're at. Dems need to play hard ball, which might be the most worrisome thing of it all.

  • Depends on what you're replying to, really. Though honestly, some people are so hard and radically set in certain beliefs that I use it to spark conversation. Because you know the types I'm targeting rarely respond to reason. The goal then is to get them to respond at all.

I know the playbook, you menial mentally mangled badly reconstructed sentient regressive bipedal sticks in the mud. I shall use it against you all! >:(

  • I notice you never answered my question. You sure responded to others, which is your right. Go on, give us an alternative that match the necessary criteria I listed. Here, I'll make it easy:

    1. Not invisible
    2. Likely to have larger support
    3. Not old asf
  • Before the Pandemic I would have agreed. However, because of people's stubbornness and unwillingness to listen to facts, proof, and the science itself, people died. Many of them died through no fault of their own, or the fault of others, which is bad enough. However, many died because of those we gave too much leeway and understanding to. If being hopelessly polite and stretching my own patience to unimaginable lengths cause ANYONE to die, I may as well be a part of the cause of their death. Tolerance is no longer an option. Like it or not, there are lives at stake this time as well.

I stood against the anti-vaccine and anti-mask fools. I am sure as hell going to stand against the people who in bad faith claim to be Democrats or left-leaning. Who claim to want what's best. Who shout their claims that their way is the only way when it clearly leads us down a dark path. I will stand against them.

Because it has to be done.

  • About 30 seconds ago I felt a little smarter not knowing you exist, yet in so few words you've made yourself pretty thoroughly known.

Four months is plenty of time. Biden will be backing her. The DNC has voting wolves ready to kick their asses. Bernie and AOC both supported Biden and are wise enough to support Harris, and others will follow their example. Back to point #2, and to reaaaally highlight something obscenely important:

    They listened.

Take that in for a meager second. Now ask yourself if we could get those prideful fucks to back down, and also get an old lifetime politician to step aside in a historical move, do you understand what we could potentially do if we complained half as hard as you do when so much shit isn't on the line?

Oh, and give us an alternative that matches three things:

    1. Not invisible
    2. Likely to have larger support
    3. Not old asf

I think you'll find 3 to be rather important for a LOT of people right now.
