  • I've struggled a lot too. Nothing quite helps enough, which leaves me like progression blue-balled on tasks. What HAS helped the most is allowing myself to do multiple tasks at once. I write them down and just do what I feel like as they come around. I also made sure to find work that allows me to do this. So basically I built parts of my life around my adhd so that the walls I bounce off of are at least walls I need to hit.

This is without treating my sleep apnea, no therapy, and no medication. However, it has also meant having a very solid understanding of what I cope with and how I cope with it. Because I have depression separate from adhd, and anxiety which is fueled by both and some trauma, the single most effective thing I've ever done is take the time to truly understand each aspect.

Now I can mentally set aside my anxiety and am able to will myself to not listen to that cruel little voice. For my depression I've learned to accept it and work with it rather than fighting. With ADHD I adapted my circumstances rather than try to force the adhd to work with everything else. So far the only thing I haven't found a way to do is force myself to do tasks I don't want to do. There MUST be some reason, otherwise I'll procrastinate.

I don't expect any of this to help. I do hope some of it does, though. We all deserve to be able to look forward to the next day, if only a little.

  • I love reading and playing Chess. Writing is a personal passion and maaan do I love to talk about psychology, sociology, and the larger sciences. At the same time I do enjoy exercise such as hiking and exploring in general, though I need someone to pull me out to actually do these things. Otherwise, I'll stay home and read, play games, and continue to learn the motherfucking piano, which is proving to be a nice challenge.

Intelligence here is simply someone who is curious and driven enough to ask questions. Solid +3 modifier to sexiness if they're smarter than me. Like, let me listen to you talk about amphibians, historical setbacks, or how a geological formation potentially created a series of tunnels full of mystery and allure. I eat that shit up.

  • And we can effectively shift that balance. I will never willingly advocate for things that hurt people. Though I can be ignorant just like anyone else. What I will do is ask us to come together and seek positive change in the most effective ways, even if that means a temporary set back, so long as there are plans to shore it up quickly. This is because I recognize that short-term sacrifices will probably be necessary to achieve a more positive, bigger picture outcome.

HOWEVER, as we are seeing and experiencing, we as a united voice can help enact better changes and less sacrifices by all yelling into the wind. Seems that when enough people do it, our voices carry rather well.

  • Except you did something. My words were not and never will be meant for those that act, even in small ways. Mine are for the tolerant who avert their eyes. Those who shed empty words to empathetic listeners to feel better about what they considered doing, yet never acted upon. Those words are meant for the many who always thought they might, yet knew they never would. Yes, they have their reasons. Some of those reasons are even completely valid.

It remains though that for the majority that remain whose excuses fail, my words ring true. Like it or not we must speak. You did. I did. Plenty of people did. Many, many more did not, never to those who needed to hear it. Just within the last week I saw on here and overheard in my community two similar comments, both of which talked about being patient and staying reasonable. That people will come to their senses. Tolerance is not noble when so much is on the line.

My words were for those tolerant majority who hate how things have gone. Who scramble to make excuses and find the right angles. I speak because they won't. I just wish they would. More have done so, though plenty remain silent, content to watch as the rest of us attempt CPR on a nation at the brink of precipice that we. can. stop.

We just have to work together and be, ironically, tolerant of each other. Saving our frustrations for the meaningful fights.

  • Politics is funny, like an oversized truck driven by an oversized grandma whose reflexes have slowed with time. The truck is unwieldy due to its size, and the driver often unable to see over the steering wheel until there is a bump that causes her to glance at more of the road than she's used to seeing. Even when Grandma does react, the truck is slow to move, and if it moves quickly it runs the risk of tipping over.

We do need bigger change. That change will NOT happen overnight, too much damage has been done. What we need to do is walk back the worst damage, reinforce codes and laws to stop them being overturned by holiday worshipping dick heads, tackle creating a foundation to work off of, and then work towards larger, more meaningful change. In that order. Maybe swap around the middle as needed if blocked by certain justices.

Every single inch will be fought for. Every real change challenged. Harris and the party she hopefully recreates will need our support. Even Old Man Willow Biden bowed when we sang our song loudly enough, together.

  • I'm harsh because I have borne witness to our tolerance. During the Pandemic people died because we averted our eyes. We were both embarrassed by those who refused to be vaccinated, and frustrated when they didn't wear masks. Because of this tolerance people were killed by a virus that while bad was made significantly worse through the actions of the gullible, ignorant, and malicious, and in part the inaction of many of us. It was a stressful time so I struggle to blame any one thing, though we could have done much more to challenge the fundamental lies Republicans and the insane MAGA assholes brought forth.

I bring that time up because it's a very recent and very fresh example of what we always do. We'll bicker and in-fight, challenge one another over often petty pedantic bullshit. Yet we rarely come together to challenge the people, or the situations, that truly must be challenged.

My expectations are great because in this world are people far more intelligent and capable than I. Despite having a modicum of intellect, and reluctant wisdom, there are likely a handful of people who will read even a comment this far down the chain who could run circles around me. I am not the smartest person in this room. Because of this I hope all of you consider what we have to gain and work together towards a better tomorrow. Like it or not we are on a cusp and there will be battle after battle in the months to come. We need all of you.

  • Yeah, sorry, no room for pity. Shit's on the line. I'll mourn the passing of his sanity when we get past the current hurdle, and the sub-hurdle of another January 6th, after the various hurdles caused by little pseudo-orange asshats causing voting issues nationwide.

  • I have ADHD.

someone opens my Youtube as a litmus test

"So we pray unto the holy beings that this child may not lose their way. For which many forsaken paths they may tred, nor what trends they may trod upon, that they alight on lightened road and partake only within golden rays."

"Also, just, like...ignore that 3am Pokemon rabbit ahem hole I went down when overtired."

  • And here, dear readers, is a wild someone angered by the state of everything today. They no longer can believe good people exist and, even making an exception for the bad, that good choices can be made. So they seek out truths that match their perspective and attempt to mold in reasons that don't quite fit what they're trying to say. Moreover, they forget that at the end of any single day a good choice was made, which is sort of the point.

  • Well yeah. He's a shilling, narcissistic, crass, foolish, idiotic, small, decrepit, abusive, asshole who refuses to acknowledge his own significant shortfalls, causes boundless issues for everyone involved with him, and is fundamentally a horrible human being who has somehow managed to survive this long despite being a moron.

  • I disagree with keeping anything basic and essential from children. Hungry is hungry. Moreover, having money certainly doesn't mean any individual has basic humanity and their children may suffer from that. If we assume the needs, or lack thereof, of individuals based on a perception, we will miss those who legitimately have a need. This is incredibly simple. Or do you believe that a child who is hungry and yet has rich parents who can pay for all their needs is at fault?

I am also in favor of free healthcare. All of this can be paid for by taxes levied at individuals who have more than enough to spare. After all, if you're not in favor of the poor paying for the wealthy, let's flip that script. Bernie outlined it years ago, and despite common perception, the U.S. has rather low tax rates compared to many other countries. We could easily supply a solution to the needs of the many through a taxation of the wealthy. Functional ;) or not.

  • Everything we use is due to taxes. Honestly, as a functionally rich person you should be aware of that. I'm actually of the opinion that anyone in need should be able to utilize services that my tax dollars help fund.

    This is how society works.

The fundamental difference is who is taxed more. A poor family's children should have access to food. A rich family's children should have access to food. Your children should have access to food my taxes help pay for, it's super easy, I'm surprised this is a controversial take.

But nah, you right. If your kiddos ever need an ambulance, fuck em. Swipe that credit card, I don't want to be paying to help as a "functionally poor person". /s But hey, you said it first.

  • tldr: Flaw can give a hacker access to your computer only if they have already bypassed most of the computer's security.

This means continue not going to sketchy sites.

Continue not downloading that obviously malicious attachment.

    Continue not being a dumbass.

    Proceed as normal.

Because if a hacker got that deep your system is already fucked.

  • Joltzdude thought the movie was pretty bad, with few good moments. He's one of the most wholesome people I've ever run across, and a massive Borderlands nerd. So while I normally try to make my own decisions on these things, I am willing to bet it was pretty bad.
