  • Honestly really wasn't a big fan of the look and functionality back when I first tried it, but it looks like it got updated recently with some more customization and theming options

Closer to Infinity but still I miss it

It also still has the weird scrolling stutter, but overall does seem more polished than jerboa

    Thanks for the recommendation!

  • Yeah, same here with Infinity

It was my app of choice and I got so use to it, whenever I go back to it every once and a while, I just remember everything I miss since switching to jerboa

Biggest one is definitely the smoothness, idk y but jerboa has a subtly noticable stutter every time I swipe around the feeds, whereas Infinity is completely smooth, running at 90hz flawlessly

And there's alot of other small QoL and rough-around-the-edges things, too

The minute that Infinity for Lemmy comes out, if at all, is the minute that I return to my home app

  • IIRC It's because the programmer who chose the color was programming on a blue background at the time and decided to use the same blue for the blue screen, just to keep the theming consistent

  • This right here is one of the biggest reasons I turned to exclusively open source software, cuz man the amount of internal rage I feel any time I have to log into software is unreal, like I open the software I want it to just go

  • They don't choose what they need to hide, if their government outlaws woodworking tomorrow, then any carpenters today go from "having nothing to hide" to "I need to hide my entire career and hobby" overnight and in their sleep.

And then the government threatens Facebook to hand over messages from any user suspected of woodworking, and then they get persecuted and arrested

The government threatens Google to hand over all browser history from suspected woodworkers, Apple for all iCloud photos from suspected woodworkers, Amazon for all woodworking related purchases

    It goes on

If the carpenter cared about privacy from the start, then the government just wouldn't be able to find them and arrest them for simply woodworking

But the carpenter didn't care about privacy, they "had nothing to hide" yesterday, so when that law goes into effect tomorrow the government will have a really easy time finding them

  • Yeah honestly same, I hate having to sudo into random system files to change something basic or having to open a terminal and remember the specific magic words to do what I need

so whenever I have the option I use GUI over CLI every time
