  • Programmable? Look at rich guy over here!

In our lab all machines apparently use the same sound chip. So when you heard the beep, you had to check if it was the dish washer, the centrifuge, the oven or the automatic water measuring scale.

  • I agree with your comment, but I didn't talk about economic structures, but rather about how power is distributed in a society. That is closely connected to the economic structure, sure. But for example the Soviet Union was state socialism and started enough wars themselves. Also not because the workers wanted it, but those in power did.

  • In a certain way I even agree with the sentiment. Of the crystals I have grown myself, the perfect ones are kinda nice, but do look fake/more like plastic. Those that are nearly perfect but have visible impurities (not to much, not to little) are far more visually pleasing to me.

The big BUT is that this in no way is a reason to support blood diamonds. If aesthetic is more worthy to you than human rights, than you are a villain, it's that simple.

  • Correct, but that shows what an chemical engineering masterpiece photosynthesis is.

It also isn't just one step, but multiple smaller steps in between, which make it possible to break the C-O bond.

But the difference is, that for photosynthesis, there are other reaction partners that are able to bond to the Carbon and Oxygen atom. For the decomposition, they likely were in a pure CO2 atmosphere, making it hard for the atoms to find better reaction partners than each other.

  • Certain death tomorrow is better than certain death today.

I share your pessimistic view on what this win means, but don't get disheartened. It is still a win for privacy and citizen rights.

  • It was the one good thing the german liberal party FDP was good for, but they aimed to destroy the coalition from the inside (literally! they made plans and discussion meetings when the best time to destroy it would be). And now they are out and we have the SPD and the Greens left. So one party who really has a hard on for surveillance and the other one who is undecided.

  • It is also really fun in coop. The way your two main characters interact makes it perfect for playing it with somebody else.

And of course all the different fuckups if your fire ball destroys the oil barrels you didn't see before...

  • That sounds strange, because they just filter out and don't add anything. What does give me headache though are glasses that are too small for me. Maybe your glasses are just a bit too small and the increased pressure triggers the migraine?

  • Might not be for you.

Maybe as an alternative for you: create new accounts after one year or so to not leave a years-long data trail? This way your posts are preserved but can't be connected easily to each other to doxx you.

  • What you say and what you describe are not the same. Your explanation is literally how it was explained on the other site. So you are better than you think you are. =)

And I do it the same as you. Something I disagree with or don't like but is reasonably argued and not mean or full of any -isms? No vote from me.

  • Delicious in Dungeon/Dungeon Meshi by Ryouko Kui.

It has wonderful world building introducing it slowly over time without info dumping, or better said, there is a nerd in the world info dumping on his friends, who don't always appreciate it =D
