  • Well, all the Nestle stuff gets sent back to them. Pretty much all the big name cereal outfits have orders that damaged products are to be sent to a salvage company.

    Happily most cheese and sliced meats can be donated, plus we generally send 8-10 shopping carts of baked goods and produce directly from us to them every day

  • I'm one of the returns clerks in a Costco. First thing we do every morning is process stuff to send the food bank. It irks me how much stuff we aren't allowed to send because the manufacturer won't allow it. Even despite that we send a lot every day. Everything that does spoil at the food bank goes to a local pig farm, who donates pig products back to the food bank whenever he can.

  • I debated how to reply to you for probably too long. The best reply I could think of, is the following:

    Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;

  • Possibly/Probably but as I said. Right now win 10 runs all my productivity, gaming and streaming software such as OBS and Veadotube.

    They run and run well. I have literally no incentive to switch to either a Linux distro or win11. If that changes, then I'll consider changing my OS, but until then...why would anyone?

  • I have no plans to either update to win11 or change back to chanting magic spells at my computer to get it to work (Ubuntu, many years ago).

    My computer works and does everything I want it to. Basic internet security and reasonable precautions are sufficient for a low level user like me to stay safe.

  • I was the buddy hanging on for dear life. The driver was a good friend, but a horrific driver. He almost got the title. Both times, cause they invited him back for the Worst Ever season

  • I'm relatively sure that the shooter will turn out to be someone who had a loved one suffer and die because they were refused health care coverage. This may turn out to be only the first of similar incidents.

  • As someone of Ukrainian descent I do. My grandfather fled the Holomodor to arrive in Canada in the 1920s, where he was able to put down $20 and prove out a section of land in a 5 year period to earn title to that land. That said, I am glad you used an actual news source. When I first saw that they were youtube links I was already going, "Oh boy, here we go again with a raging conspiracy theorist," but I was pleasantly surprised that it was DW News, an outlet that plays on my smarthub, along with CBC news.

    That said, you have anything newer than 2 years ago? It would be interesting to learn if there has been any progress on this.

  • It's also called being ready for anything. It's what you do when you aren't entirely sure what the idiot on the other side is going to do.

    The world's best swordsman isn't afraid of the second best swordsman. He's afraid of the world's worst swordsman, cause he can never be sure what the idiot will do.

    Same principle.
