No one knows the difference between fire eating and fire breathing. Everyone asks me for fire breathing lessons. I don't fire breathe. I also highly advise against it.
Why is it that the question of finance is ALWAYS one of the first hurdles when discussing things like climate change and social services, but somehow when it's for the military or Nazi Gestapo, the money magically materializes?
There exists more than enough money to fund it. We just need to extract it from the billionaires who are hoarding it.
Immersion. Duolingo (blegh) is useful for structured grammar learning, but I'm gaining a lot through music, podcasts, and switching some apps to French. Recently started translating comic books since they're relatively simple but fun. For the specific dialect I want to learn, I'm getting help from my friend and I found a French club through my job.
As much as I hate Duolingo's recent politics, their podcast is one of the most useful. It's essentially bilingual Radiolab. At least I know that doesn't have AI.
It's what you make of it. Some people don't make anything with theirs.
Personally, for me it's to form community and to leave a positive lasting influence on others. Except fascists, they can rot in hell. For others, it might be to learn as much as they can or to impart their wisdom onto their children.
I got my tongue split in 2017 so uhh healing that is definitely up there. You basically have the worst sore throat of your life, can't talk, can't stop drooling, and can only "eat" smoothies by pouring them directly into your mouth.
I decided to start learning French last year and have been essentially speed running it. Learning another language makes my brain happy (I'm fluent in 2 already).
Having lived in both (currently in CA), can very much confirm. Canadian goods tend to be better overall. Corn syrup is pretty rare in food to start, and somehow produce is fresher???
It's been a long time since I made a typeface but most typeface apps are better at compiling then than designing them. You typically design them somewhere else, like Illustrator or InkScape.
Well that was a plot twist
