  • I agree with you. I do.

But where the hell does that logic go when it's not American political allies in the firing line?

When Saddam allegedly had WMDs and Al-Qaida did 9/11, why were all Muslims everywhere suddenly terrorists?

When COVID was allegedly sourced from a lab in China, why were all Chinese people being targeted, attacked and killed on US streets?

Now that we're talking about Israel, everyone's suddenly so protective of exactly who the fingers should be pointed at. Saddam never did have WMDs. The upper echelons of Saudi Arabia were behind 911. There's no proof that COVID came from a lab in China, but those generalisations are often justified, because "look at how many they've killed!".

I agree with you, that it really is Netenyahu's regime that wants this. There are many, many Israeli's all over the world who are condemning Israel's actions in this war, in much the same way that Muslims have spoken out against terrorism for years, and Chinese people called for the hate crimes to cease.

  • Plus even providing weapons to non-state actors is a big no-no in international relations.

Isn't the US the world's largest exporter of weapons? How is this different?

It just feels like next time they simply won't do prisoner swaps or will demand the payment upfront.

Once the prisoners are swapped, the deal should be done. That they took a while to hold the money in escrow and then were witness to the Israel incident should have no bearing on this deal since the deal was complete?

Genuinely curious here; I've no horse in this race!

  • I disagree.

Once upon a time, streaming services were free, or gave you a generous amount of content for a small price.

Now, not only does everybody and their mom want to make you subscribe to something, they're also constantly and unapologetically raising prices whilst removing features or extracting useful/necessary features and placing them in new, expensive premium tiers.

Sure, get a family plan and split, and watch them slowly raise prices to "match inflation" or some other bs excuse!

There are definitely solutions out there, and I'm sure someone will come up with a way to spoof YouTube premium or something and the war will continue.

I won't say 'pirate everything', because you shouldn't; there are definitely services out there that are worth your money. But if they're going to play using scummy tactics then I don't see why we can't as well!

  • It's not on the chart. Not only did it not happen prior to the current October 2023 war (as it clearly states in the title of the graph and the post), it didn't happen at all.

What did happen is the overwhelming murder and maiming of innocent civilians who have no way to defend themselves, against one of the most powerful nations on the planet.

  • I condemn and disagree with Hamas as well. The way they've attacked Israel does nothing but invite suffering for both nations involved, especially Palestinians.

But let's be honest. What's Palestine really getting in aid? Hamas, although extreme and definitely a terrorist group, are the only ones fighting back against Israel? I can't remember anyone putting sanctions on Israel and threatening military action if they continue to destroy settlements in Gaza. It's always just a slap on the wrist.

Sure, free Palestine from Hamas, but then what? Israel gets to continue doing what it has been doing for decades? How does that not just create Hamas 2.0?

The people losing their families don't need thoughts and prayers, and aid money to keep them on a life support machine. I'm genuinely looking for an answer here, because for Palestinians, it does seem like Hamas is their only option?

  • Very true. I totally agree. However...!

I'm going to preface this comment by saying I don't condone what Hamas did, but I also understand why they did it. I'm also an outsider as many of us are. I don't live in the area and I don't have family/friends involved in the conflict so my views are unbiased but also irrelevant lol.

Imagine if someone walked into your home, raped and killed your spouse and kidnapped your kids. Would you want to kill them in revenge? I sure as hell won't hesitate! There's a rule in the US that allows you to kill in this very scenario. It's called the Castle doctrine, or the more commonly known "stand your ground" rule.

A Palestinian family who have seen their homes demolished (despite living there for decades or centuries), have witnessed their children be murdered for sport, and have their citizens constantly harassed by Israeli settlers terrorists armed to the nines and deliberately provoking and antagonising anyone for a rise so they can use lethal force as self defense, will naturally turn to their own friendly neighborhood terrorist group to support themselves, likely after a lot of targeted propaganda by such groups.

Was it right for Hamas to kill innocents? Of course not. Are Palestinians happy they got some revenge for what they've lost for many years? of course! Are they sorry? Hell no. Hamas did something. It will mean war, and the wrath of many countries internationally, but I guess hopelessness and desperation doesn't go hand-in-hand with logical, well-reasoned responses.

  • I had a friend at school who did this. At the cinema, after the movie was over, he would be one of the loudest voices in the group, talking about how awesome the movie was, how it's going to do so well at the box office and how he couldn't wait for the next one to come out.

The very next day, he'd come in armed with research on all the plot holes and ways the movie failed from other critics, and then just lay into the movie as if it was the worst movie he'd seen and how it was a waste of his money.

We would point out how annoying he was for convincing himself that he hated it. The only opinion that counted was the one right after the movie ended; that's the best and most honest review one could give. He kept on doing it. It wasn't cool, Chris.

  • When Jamal Khashoggi, a US journalist was brutally murdered and dismembered in Saudi Arabia, the US decided it wasn't important enough to worry about.

I can't see how this is any different? Must be all that gold and oil blinding me from the truth... /s

  • So with zero first hand experience then? You're refusing to upgrade based on memes and conjecture alone.

Sure, you're well within your right to do so, but it's not a great system to live life by. People are far more vocal about bad experiences than good ones. Windows 11 has been awesome for me, and as a developer and gamer, I'm on my PC and Mac far longer than the average user. I've not had any issues with windows 11 since it came out; the issues with the start menu and whatnot. It feels like it's cool nowadays to moan about Microsoft products when the reality just doesn't reflect those complaints.

Try it out for yourself. It's actually a really good OS: I prefer it over MacOS Sonoma anyday. My dad, who is 'afraid' to touch computers in fear of breaking them, told me just last night how much easier Win11 is to use than Win10.

If after all that you still hate it, well, at least then you've made an informed decision!
