I've read it (or something like it) in the past. There were violent confrontations around the city after the protest was dispersed. A couple hundred people (a significant number of them soldiers), died in the fighting. This matches with what the CPC said, so I don't think it's in dispute.

See my edit. But here's the thing. We have video of the moon landing and rocks from the actual moon. That's solid evidence. We have plenty of evidence of the atom existing, because half our tech wouldn't work if they didn't exist.

The US has a very long history of lying about its enemies. There are plenty of declassified CIA docs that talk about what lies to tell the media. Why is this one different?

Edit: also, see pen names. Isn't it a little hypocritical to call us conspiracy theorists when you come to the conclusion that the book was lies written by China or North Korea because you can't find any information about the author?

Can you detail further what you mean? My understanding is similar to this article. They didn't think that the Jim crow laws went far enough, so they ultimately based their treatment of Jews more around the US treatment of natives (eventually also mirroring the US with an extermination attempt)

They weren't nearly as strict as the US on racial purity though, which might be what you're referring to? In the US, one drop of black blood would qualify you as legally black. In Germany you needed three Jewish grandparents to be classified as a jew. That's significantly more lenient than the US.

Even if you don't personally want to harm minorities, your government does. It's built into the system. You make one vote every four years. Did that vote ever include anything that would make the lives of minorities any better? Did you ever vote on anything that made things worse? Did worse things happen without your vote? How? Why?

I didn't spend too much time on it, and it could probably be done better. I just used free web tools to download the video and autogenerate subtitles. The text at the section I mentioned says this:

You come up with a baseless claim that we think all Ukrainians are nazis. We think that the current government of Ukraine is dangerously far right and descended from actual nazi collaborators. You don't want to hear it because it doesn't fit your world view.

I wanted to read the original source of this, and went down a rabbit hole. this doc here details the lies that they would tell the American people. There's another one where they openly talk about telling the media what to say. And a follow up here and here. Also a nice review of a conservative radio host doing what he was told.

But I think that the cherry on top is this telegram with instructions for local media. One of the talking points that they want them to talk about are communist attacks on the free press. You can't make that shit up.

Not being able to trade in USD is a huge issue, as it means you are blocked from SWIFT. When it's stated that you have to use a different currency, it means a whole different trading mechanism. Which may or may not exist/work for your business. And if the US decides to cut your access to SWIFT completely, then you're effectively out of business.

You could argue that the US should not have this much power over world trade, and I would agree with you. But you're not. You're blaming the Cubans for not being able to buy the replacement parts they needed, because the US totally isn't interfering with their trade. Not to mention the absolute inhumanity of this position. When the US suffered from hurrican Katrina, Cuba didn't hesitate to offer aid. When Cuba's main oxygen plant breaks during a pandemic?
