  • I recall a time when Windows 10 was going to be the last release of windows. It's was just going to be updated forever. I'm glad that they have returned to the usual every second or so release is going to be a unfinished half baked turd until we can really get things right in the following release.

RIP Bob, ME, Vista, 8/8.1, and hopefully sooner than later 11...

  • There was a time Madonna was a actual virgin but that long ago in the before times

  • It's a shame how they railroaded him into the poor house for such ideas. Sometimes being first is the worst to be.

  • However later on there was more support even among Americans with the US Nazi party that existed and tried to run in elections.

To be fair many around the world saw Fascism as a new exciting way to run a country until war broke out. Then those Nazis and fascists were only good when they were dead.

I wonder if those cosplaying as Nazis today understand they aren't the heroes they think they are especially when it comes to US WW2 veterans, (many would consider the real heroes) would want these newer Nazis dead too.

  • The Dearborn Independent from Henry Ford was one of the most wildly distributed papers of its time due to the Ford dealer network and how Ford was lauded as a the hero that brought the car to rural folk giving them freedom.

It's unfortunate that his antisemitic views were often the main things one would find in his paper that many would have just accepted as fact. Ford a brilliant man in many ways but this was one of the few ways in which he wasn't.

  • I've never met her, she's not my type, she's ugly, and she was lucky if it did happen, which it didn't...

  • And usually they have just discovered this religion after a 12 step program. It's their new reality they must share with the rest of us...

  • That's a long way to say I don't really know the details of this case and will just follow the narrative McDonald's wants me to...

  • As I've become older the old "unhealthy" meals of bacon and eggs were not fully bad way to start your day in the sense of protein over carbs and sugars.

The latter leaves one hungry and snacking all day with no way to ever really get full. As much as bacon isn't healthy for us the protein start is better for blood sugars than oatmeal or cereals to break fast.

  • For those that grew up on hashbrowns or left over potatoes fried the next morning, it's a staple.

  • Perhaps being one of the first major Distros in the sense of being easy enough for many less tech inclined to switch from windows and not need to know as much command line.

I had tried older and other versions of Linux but back then Ubuntu mostly just worked. Being a leader in that sense has held them in the place where its safe to dive into Linux despite the various other flavors that can do it better. The PR is a lot to overcome for newbies that are overwhelmed on it. It's only later after getting a footing you will be brave enough to try over flavours.

For me Linux Mint is a no brainer place to start with my older hardware than Ubuntu now but I don't think they have the word of mouth like Ubuntu. At least with Ubuntu if they are even aware of something more than Mac or Windows they have probably heard of the name not really knowing what it is. Many aren't Googling Arch for first time installs I suspect.

  • As much as I don't agree with them it's a bloody masterclass on how to reach a commincation overwhelmed public that are constantly bombarded by media and advertising. Throw in the Internet on top of traditional means and most humans can't handle the volume and the ones that can are usually looking deeper.

Where they are great at is cutting through the noise with the speaking at a grade 4 level, the sounds bite lies and name-calling get through and stick for those not really curious about more than what they already perceive as reality. Anything more is mental work, even bigger words let alone the ideas that have depth and more to them a simple one line description. Many just aren't up for that task of going deeper unless its because of a painpoint like a bad event in their life, but even then they are looking for someone to blame as we are all right in our own minds. They are given easy outs on who to blame with cute nicknames and various other lies that explains why it's not working for them.

When the time comes and things have gone too far where we can't go back, some of them will be like we didn't vote for that or think of how it would turn out. For many its all been a big joke to laugh at.

In some ways it's too bad the older decaying generations are living much longer. Many stopped learning after high school and are still living in mentally in the places they first found love and their adult lives. As a result they see the world from that moment of time with that mindset and can't handle the changes that every generation wants to bring to the table. Not saying those changes are right or are the right way to go forward, but the status quo isn't working that well either for many despite how easy it is for many to stay there mentally.

  • Sounds like I got out at the right time with OkCupid which is where I met my gf back in 2014. I recall when I was divorced further back in 2008 how Lavalife, Plenty of Fish, Match, and Craigslist were the places I felt like a kid in a candy store due to when I was first married, online dating apps weren't a thing yet.

OkCupid was much better than eHarmony and Tinder had just come out and it wasn't so money driven then. Sounds like it is much more so now.

I heard about the lawsuit Tinder was in over fake profiles driving users into premium features but I don't think they were alone with that either. It's a shame how some of these services went through change to drive revenue and some are no longer around at all. It was kind of like a golden time to meet people when it was still becoming more acceptable than the cold approach in a club, bar or grocery store for those of us not really into those scenes.

What I liked about the dating apps then was both parties stated what they were looking for and we both we were there for dating. Cold approaching often meant someone is not on that wave length unlike the dating app. I found people were there for the same thing for the most part. Dating of some form being Casual all the way up to married and have my babies. For me it felt like a short cut over trying to figure that out in real time in public.

Today with the apps driven towards looks only I have to wonder if it is more a play on stroking one's own ego and dopamine hits from the randomness of collecting matches versus actually meeting people in real life. I could see that a big bump for someone with no real intention of dating unless it was one of the top 5 percent of the users. Overwise it's just another way to keep us from being bored like scrolling through social media...

  • We all assume people are at least as smart as we think we are but honestly they aren't. It's scary how many stupid people there are even if you are at the lower part of the average. Millions... It's always the lowest common denominator that the world ends up being built for it seems and that means it's not required for millions above that...

  • The network effect is pretty powerful especially how cellphones and the Internet now connect your crazy aunt or cousin that would have been isolated in the past with others like them. They can create these large echo chambers on how all the things they know are correct. They don't need experts or science for where they are going...

  • I saw a early video from a "medical expert" the government was trying to "silence" we would all be dead within 6 months from the first jab containing cancer, ground up aborted baby fetuses, microchips, Aids, Cancer and Alzheimer's.

I usually joke due to the Alzheimer's I've forgotten to die more than once now from the boosters.

Using this logic (I know this is about feelings not logic but hear me out ) I think we should be seeing bodies stacked in the streets like cords of wood from the millions upon millions that have died from the vaccines by now. So many 100s of millions should be dead now as we are way beyond the 6 months of the first one and the ones since.

As Bill Burr said early on, what they want to kill 93 precent of the people that took the first one while complying with the government? The easy ones to control? Yeah let's kill them so we are only left with the ones that aren't sheeple and hard to deal with.

Usually I find the types spouting this stuff are huffing a pack of cigarettes a day with large warnings and photos about the various diseases they cause but they don't bat an eye at the warnings while guzzling down their next beer. Sorry to say there's medical evidence there too about the harms of continuing use of alcohol too but it's the vaccines that are taking you out...

  • One has to wonder about the medical issues he was experiencing in the past couple of years were.

I'm pretty sure addiction doesn't make one healthier or younger so you wonder what type of damage has incurred over the years of his struggles. Perhaps he had heart issues or something else that will surface in the hours and says ahead.

Still sad to hear he's passed. Money can make some things easier in life without a doubt but it can't fix everything it seems.

  • I remained a blackberry user for too long. I had a number of them and I wasn't interested in the Apple phone. Then I had a terrible BB Storm which would freeze up all the time.

I called my telco frustrated by the POS. They gave me a $100 credit to go buy a pay and talk android phone (LG something) and wait for a month for the Samsung S2 to come out. Once it arrived I would be sent one. The pay and talk LG blew my blackberry out of the water as it was a full internet experience unlike the BB that was translating all internet experiences to reduce data used on networks that couldn't handle data to start out with.

The S2 was amazing compared to my BB's. I did miss the physical keyboard until I started using Swype. Then I couldn't go back.

I recall minutes being a big revenue generator for telcos, then it became data once the networks could handle it with the iPhone. Now it seems like they are giving away tons of data these days. What's driving revenue now for them I wonder?

  • Seems like this issue is across a few different industries. I had two CnC machine running software on old PC's with special cards to interface with the drives. One was running in a Dos box while the other was running windows XP. We could never afford any down time so it was fine some old PC's that can still run this stuff.

  • PS I never knew them, they aren't my type, and they aren't pretty enough.
