  • In the Vancouver market, those are the tools to clear out old buildings to magically (wink, wink) create new space for condo developers.

  • I'm feeling this way about hockey now as I'm older. I use to play up to 6 times a week into my late 30s. (double headers on weekends)

I've just returned to 1 day a week and my body is trashed for 3 days after...

  • There are people out there that don't know where the settings on their phone are

  • Not sure if Disney+ has this issue but I sometimes leave my Netflix tablet in airplane mode when going to another country. If the show is not available in that country when connected to the internet it will not allow play back of the shows I've downloaded.

  • Paramount+ is even worse in Canada. It was a hot mess on trying to find where show were early on. It's not a full app like the US version. It runs as a add on tier inside the Prime app.

Then at my Firecube home page it offers to install the full Paramount, and the Paramount+ app then after the install it says the content is not available in my country. Clicking on any of the Paramount show links takes me to a app that won't load the content due to country issues. I need to manually go into the Prime app to find the Paramount shows.

There a few other apps like this too and some I can't even remove but it sure will notify the crap out of me about the updates for them.

  • It seems in some cases when it comes to protecting you from industry practices can only be handled by government agencies.

  • I didn't stay long as I was making my way down from NM to Houston to visit a friend. I regretted going that way to make stops in Roswell and Balmorhea as it's pretty barren and dried out in those parts.

It's a different dried out from Arizona to me. The parts I did drive around in reminded me of the logging camps of my youth in remote areas. Industrial and dirty. The old school practices of dumping waste as it is the middle of nowhere hasn't aged well but when it comes to a job many are willing to overlook much.

Alberta is much like this with 1000's of abandoned oil wells and tailing ponds that the taxpayers are on the hook for long after the outfits have taken the profits and run.

Who cares about earthquakes and pollution. Screw that give me my jobs first. So what if we can't live without water longer than 2 or 3 days.

It's a shame Albert's recent government is doubling down on oil after years of neglecting the power grid and then canceling any more investment into existing alternative power like wind turbines and solar.

After my time living on just solar during my travels in AZ I can see these areas with so much sun having a easier time with solar than the wet climate I come from and it's a shame they only block further investments into it to protect oil. They are the perfect places for solar and wind.

China has become a leader in the production of solar and they need to do something as one of the world's largest polluters. These things can take decades and further stalling reinforces in my mind it's still short term profits above all else. Good luck everyone...

  • They didn't plan on the ground force from the cars sucking up the water valve covers in the street of the race track which requires asphalt repairs so I don't think we can expect them to plan on delays for staffing either. I have to think they were already maxed here as it was.

I'm surprised to read they are running cars at 230 am to 4am. I understand the time constraints but that racket at the middle of the night. Good thing it's in Vegas I guess.

As for why they water pipes under roads a part of me doesn't get for disruptions to traffic. I would have thought these would be better run under sidewalks and the edges of roads but I'm a layman in these areas. I suspect there's good reasons for this?

  • The western manufactured diet isn't helping. What's great for long term shelf like and better taste to increase sales isn't necessarily on the same level of what's healthy for us even in moderation. I mean this beyond the normal what's banned in other country stuff.

As time goes on they will continue to link physical and mental health issues to diet even though the money is being spent instead on the latest thing being great for profit margins and here's why we think so..

Those that can put in the work and time to grow their own foods will often live healthier and better lives. I'm in too lazy at times bucket myself but a part of me knows I'm going to pay for it in the long term.

  • So they don't have to pay out the notice? I think locally they can fire you but then have to pay severance which depending on length of employment can be many more weeks than 2.

  • And let's be honest beyond them outrage in general.

  • Unfortunately I've never known a insurance company in the business of paying out claims. It's always seemed to be in their best interests to pay out at little as possible.

You can imagine the lengths they go to do this as it's great for their bottom line. Adding this mentality to things beyond physical things like human healthcare seems scary to me.

As messed up at times government run things can be I'm still glad for universal health care in my country not being a profit center for those running it.

  • Potatoes fall into this category too of both delicious and nightshade fun. So tastes great like anti freeze but it takes a lot longer to finally get you.

  • I've driven through parts of north western Texas and the oil rigs everywhere really seem to enforce how much oil brings employment to the areas much like parts of Alberta. It's barren, dry and hard worked over land that I'm not sure what else they would do with. Outside of the odd places with water holes like Balmorhea it's just harsh.

Now I do get a serious evil vibe by this push to keep the public confused and focused on these issues versus what's going on environmentally. If everyone is fighting over this crap that was already decided on sometime back, they can do whatever they want in these other areas.

  • I know a lady that has wired everything due to health concerns from wifi. She says she only accesses the internet via wires on her iPhone and iPad. I didn't realize that was even an option.

  • It's that what it was? I never looked into the hate but I couldn't tell you a song of theirs at the same time.

I thought payola was the basis of the US music scene for like forever? Airplay was the way to become big at one point.

I think theatrics and controversy are the main ways today.

  • Funny how that is nightmare fuel to some. I suspect some with Trypophobia could be triggered...

  • The article does mention refusing Tesla based taxi service. Not sure how they are structured there but I do see individuals that own Tesla's possibly being affected as a result.

  • It's funny how we all do that. You see it in immigrants that bring their best practices and learned culture to their new homes.

It's a tale as old as time. We certainly did not abandon our European ways, and adopt the original American native lifestyle upon our arrival to the continent. It certainly affected our ways for survival but we certainly pushed our way of life without a doubt with its European economic and religious values.

So the circle of life now? 😇
