  • Yeah this is the same kind of thing they did at another one of these events in the past with the whole "Ladies and gentlemen, we are all domestic terrorists." thing. It was meant as a joke to make fun of what the liberals were saying but at the same time it wasn't entirely inaccurate.

  • I feel like Reddit atleast had more other stuff to dilute the news and politics stuff. But without a lot of the smaller communities from Reddit that used to contribute to my home page it feels like all I get is memes and news.

  • I mean most new technologies have a period of explosive growth followed by eventually slowing down and making only gradual gains. So it really just depends if we're near the end of that development or if there's still more explosive changes to come.

  • I worked at an Albertsons a couple years back for a summer and we still took checks. And there were definitely people who used them, although more often I think it was people who were using some kind of unemployment or other social programs. But yeah whenever it wasn't a check like that it was an older person who would write the check out once they saw the total.

  • At least for most people who answer like that and still support Trump it's probably cause they know that if the institutions fail and they manage to seize power it'll be good for them because the people they like are doing it. They don't want a dictatorship but don't really care that much as long as it's a dictator they agree with.

  • I don't like Tucker Carlson or Putin but the idea that Tucker Carlson would be platforming Putin is stupid. He's the leader of Russia, he is his own platform. He can make a video and every news agency will show it and report on it. He doesn't need a platform, he just inherently has one

  • I've noticed that without prime you can still get free shipping if you just have a big enough order, so as long as you don't buy a ton of small purchases individually but instead save up what you need for bigger purchases then the only advantage prime has is the shorter shipping time. Which I've also noticed sometimes that the shipping without prime will often arrive a day or two earlier then it's original estimate, probably cause Amazon has optimized for that shorter 2 day shipping. It's still not usually 2 days but for most stuff it's either a week or less which is usually plenty fast for anything I get on Amazon.

  • I don't think the person who posted this was complaining about having to do work at all. They were complaining about how much work needs to be done and for how long you have to do it and for the fact that you can't enjoy the reward at the end of it cause you're too old to do stuff. Which are all valid complaints and at the end of the day comes down to greedy corporations trying to milk workers for every last penny of value they can get from them for as long as possible. Times have changed a lot since many of our norms about 40 hour work weeks and retirement ages were established, and since then workers are much more efficient. So I think it's good to discuss changing these things to take some of those benefits from increased efficiency and give that value to the workers rather than just letting the corporations take it for their profits and investors.

  • If it's more then YouTube drama then there will be actual criminal charges or investigations by the IRS. Until then all the back and forth videos after the first one about whether he broke the law or not is just YouTube drama.

  • It's not the drinking milk thats weird. It's the fact that they would have to be farming milk from intelligent animals to get it. Like if cows could talk and were as smart as humans I think people would find farming milk from them a little weird.

  • I just hate that I can't swipe to easily to get to servers from messages anymore. You still can but it takes a second to load now after swiping and it's not as consistent to get it to do it.

Edit: Also removing the member list for a server being on the right when you swipe is annoying too.

  • I honestly only use self check out. I don't buy a ton in a single shopping trip and I just find it easier to do it myself since I bring my own bulky bags that go on the side of my bike. A lot easier for me in general and sucks some places are getting rid of it.

  • Yeah to them it doesn't matter if even they thought it was wrong you were fired. As soon as you went to lawyers you became their enemy. That's just how a lot of these scummy big corporations work.

  • I have two very different kinds of games I did this with.

The first was Undertale, didn't really get into it at first and stopped playing it around half way through. However after I watched someone else beat the game I got a lot more into it and finally beat all the main endings. Really liked the story and it quickly became one of my favorites after that.

The other is the Crusader Kings games. I got one of them when I was pretty young through a humble bundle and did not understand how it worked at all. Then near the end of highschool I finally tried them again along with playing Stellaris and thats when I was finally able to figure out how to play them and got super into a lot of Paradox's games.
