  • I think your first point is probably the main one that affects this. People are in a good position generally as they get older so they don't wanna rock the status quo. But with all the warning bells going off about how Millennials and Gen Z are never gonna be able to afford houses or be able to retire that is indicating the shift might not happen. Cause if they don't have anything to maintain then why would they shift conservative?

  • I mean even in the past when WoW didn't have much competition this never really happened before. It would always go down over the expansion then spike up again with a new expansion. While this is definitely in part due to the fact that WoW has multiple versions now and new ones of those have been coming out helping this is definitely still a good sign that what they've been doing recently has been working to keep players around.

  • This is why I tend to lean more towards puzzles that test how prepared characters are and how well they know what their characters can do. And even then I usually have a longer/more difficult way around the puzzle just in case they can't solve it. Like for example I have a magically locked door that they can try to get open but it would be difficult unless they have a spell or maybe getting lucky trying to lockpick it. However there is also a small cramped tunnel they can go down instead that will also get them past the door but will have some challenges along the way.

  • I mean acting like American tech companies aren't basically an arm of the American intelligence services is a bit ridiculous too. Just cause they also make money and have to compete in the "fair market" doesn't change that. If anything it makes it worse cause they'll sell their data to anyone, whether that be America or China. I'm not saying what TikTok does is good, I'm saying all these companies are bad and focusing on one like this because it's foreign is dumb.

  • It wasn't just Russia who was saying that wasn't gonna happen, basically everyone outside the US thought it wouldn't happen cause it would be a really stupid thing to do. Then it turned out they did it and it was really stupid and I think a lot of people were surprised the US was telling the truth and it wasn't just fearmongering.

  • I think the distinction here is between people and businesses. Is it the fault of people on social media for the acts of others? No. Is it the fault of social media for cultivating an environment that radicalizes people into committing mass shootings? Yes. The blame here is on the social medias for not doing more to stop the spread of this kind of content. Because yes even though that won't stop this kind of content from existing making it harder to access and find will at least reduce the number of people who will go down this path.

  • I haven't had driver problems in forever, unless I'm using some old weird device that I haven't used in ages. And even then usually going into device manager and telling it what kind of device the unknown device is usually fixes it.

  • The problem is the things they get mad at TikTok for is basically the same stuff other social media platforms do, but they do it for the US government so it's fine. I think banning TikTok or forcing it to change is great but the same should be applied to Google, Meta, and others to ensure that these companies can't violate users' privacy by gathering all of this data and just letting governments have it. But no they don't argue that, instead they just focus on oh no China is doing all these bad things and we have to stop them, not acknowledging their government agencies do the same type of spying.

  • I wouldn't say Firefox sucks but there are definitely some things that made me use Edge occasionally back when I used Firefox as my main browser. It was mainly stuff like a webpage that doesn't support Firefox and extensions not having a Firefox version. Which sure aren't problems with FireFox, it's more a problem of it not having enough adoption, but to an end user if the thing they wanna use doesn't work in FireFox but works in Chrome then that's FireFox's fault.

  • This is why I usually will add some extra HP or have some more enemies show up during a boss fight if my players are taking it down too fast. Makes the fight more challenging and fun for them so it doesn't feel like the cool boss fight was too easy.

  • Then maybe this should be the time to curtail all social media apps from being able to spy on users. But no they won't do that cause the US government uses that data for itself happily. So instead they make legislation that allows them to broadly target any social media app they mark as "controlled by a hostile foreign power". Which just sounds like a way for them to target any social media app that isn't US based and that they can't control in some way. I don't like TikTok and I think it should be forced to stop spying or be banned, but the same standard should be applied to all websites, apps, etc.

  • I mean honestly I'm fine with people saying they don't like a game they haven't played as long as they have some kind of valid reason. Nothing makes me more angry though then someone saying a game is bad or they don't like it "because the fandom is cringe/bad." Like sure for multiplayer games a bad community can be a fair reason to not like a game but most of the time these comments are about single player games. Which just makes me angry cause no one is forcing you to be involved in a fandom or talk about this game online. Just play it on your own and avoid the online stuff if it really bothers you that much.
