  • I can't think of an occasion where I've been listening to something online and wanted tracks - everything that would benefit from having them, I would prefer to download and run via VLC anyways. I think there just isn't any demand for the switch, and it would break a lot of legacy tools (like auto-transcription bots) to switch, much as .webp has.

  • Trump really embodies damn near every toxic facet of american culture. Like to be clear it's not that the negative aspects of america are all somehow his fault, he's just some kind of fucking machine designed exclusively to represent and embrace all the shitty things anyonce can unearth. He's like a Pokémon trainer, but for manifest bigoted christian warmongering imperialism. Gotta catch (and subjugate) them all!

  • Rimworld. It's like having a fishtank, but with really sociopathic fish. Only game I can think of where the #1 enemy you struggle with, that which shapes your core strategy and approach to every problem, is its single threaded performance.

  • Iirc the lore gets a bit weird about this, but essentially their nutrient requirements are so high that unless they're eating an entire butchered hog for every meal, they're basically starving to death. Slowly, yes, but it takes a lot to maintain the astartes' physiology. Normal humans just die if they eat astartes food (of... food overdose? I guess? Too much nutrition? its unclear.), but inconsistency is rife on this subject. Basically tho, bigger picture, if things are so bad even the astartes supply line is cut off you've got bigger problems than food to worry about so the point is a bit moot.

  • Thanks, and you too.

(Real advice, get a pair of 8"/10" compound bolt cutters - they're useful for everything from zipcuffs to tire walls and work a treat for self defence as well, plus they're small enough to be disposed of in an instant if need be. Much more practical to carry around than 5kg pots of thermite, too)

  • ... Just put the gasoline in a smaller container.

Really though, thermite will mess up a car (quite a bit less than you'd expect from how spectacular it is) but keep in mind that while you're standing around trying to ignite that magnesium strip, there's a bunch of ICE officers who don't want their car burned up. Dumping a jar of gas in the rain gutter and tossing in a lighter takes way less time (and will probably have a much larger effect) than thermite, and nobody can just knock it off the car while it's burning. Plus it's much easier to have a plausible excuse for owning a jar of gasoline than it is bags of powdered aluminum.

You're not wrong that it would work, it's just not going to work as well as the alternatives.

  • I mean, that sounds awesome! Wish there was something like it in my area. It's an inherent sampling bias to reference a liberal gun club for gun ownership rates among liberals, but that's really cool you guys are getting so much community engagement!

  • It's a survey, by definition it only counts people that record the information in question. That's the fundemental premise to the entire field of statistics.

(fwiw, nobody is allowed to do any science on even the submitted records, because this country is broken. Hence why finding current info is difficult)
