  • So the people designing the signs know exactly what they're doing.

Hell, it might be an agency getting paid for that, and the actual designers are pro-choice but don't have a choice.

  • He mentioned that he does and the password manager didn't prompt to autocomplete the password automatically, so he had to force it.

The thing that should have saved my bacon was the credentials not auto-filling from 1Password, so why didn't I stop there? Because that's not unusual. There are so many services where you've registered on one domain (and that address is stored in 1Password), then you legitimately log on to a different domain.

  • despite using a non-US based web server, and NOT google, my search for the site was altered during results loading, and even when the url was typed in, I was redirected twice....

    What does that mean?

  • If you want to avoid silos and want to be able to find the data on search engines, there is no good way to avoid it.

I believe the alternative is worse. We have lost so much to the old internet. Regular old forums used to be easy to find and access.

Now, everything is siloed. No good way to publicly search for information shared on Discord, on X, on Facebook, on Instagram. Even Reddit which has a deal with Google only now. So much of current information used to be just a search away and is disappearing to closed platforms that requires to log in.
