  • Do you know if it works well with GPIO from python? IIRC I had to use a OPi image and then fix and compile some low level lib.

    • is blue light from led so bad cause it's harder to make blue leds and thus the color range is more limited than red and green for what a blue light produces and thus causes our brains to get confused

  • Also, only red won't disable your night vision.

    But red was the cheapest leds in like the nineties and blue the most expensive, so blue became associated with more expensive/hi quality gear and vice versa.

  • Slightly less good (software wise) but so much worth the money IMO. I'd avoid like the i96(IIRC. If no video output well I couldn't setup ssh etc. That was some time ago so take the information with a grain of salt).

    It's a little more difficult space to navigate but worth it if you know why you want one for sure.

  • Snow Crash is a very good book by Neal Stephenson. The post is just about an invented parody of the genre.

    Check out William Gibsons Neuromancer (which mote or less coined the genre), it sticks maybe more to OPs post IMO anyways.

    I had some massive problems with the first 0.19, which eventually was fixed but 0.19.3 just was so slow (and only had "minor fixes" IIRC) so after the painful time of the broken federation I reverted to 0.19.2 just because it "worked". Maybe I should try the 0.19.3 again.

    I do have a beefy PC with a good connection and it runs 24/24 so I'll definitely try out the latest version (again).

  • Yep but I don't really think small instances work well just yet.

    I have a powerful PC (enough RAM, cores, nvme etc on a 1Gb line, 700Mb up) and it's incredibly slow most of the time, because I guess, there are not many users forcing the federation.

    I'm working on some band-aid scripts to half-fix that until Lemmy catches up, but just so you know it's not perfect for small communities yet it seems.

  • Fix the cross posting issue (crossposts are not treated like a new post).

    Make it so when you go to a new unknown community it won't take 5 tries to see the first posts (before it's like it's empty at best)

    Faster respons times overall, I'm running my own server and it's quite slow. 20 seconds to see my inbox for example. Maybe have tweaks for different server hardware configurations/loads.

    Make it possible to post hirez images, locally (downscale for other servers so it won't hog them down).

    A page for administrators including users, metrics, tweaks etc.

    But I love Lemmy anyways, good job!
