  • You can make an argument for confidentiality making it harder to find exploits in your code. If nobody cares enough to report them to you, or if you don't have the resources to fix them, open-sourcing your code just exposes them.

This is pretty much only an argument if you use stuff that would be irresponsible to use in the first place tho

  • I don't know about you, but I couldn't care less for what social media apps are available in China. Also banning social media is not censorship

  • How often did you elect a socialist government you sickos?! I am disgusted.

Where do I sign up btw? Just so, you know, I can avoid becoming Portuguese.

  • This is way more fun with shred -f -u

  • Worker advocacy groups are pushing to eliminate the tipped-wage system, while the restaurant industry warns these shifts hurt business and employees.

Imagine having to pay a living wage, burger prices would explode!

Except, for example, there is a 12.82€ minimum wage in Germany and a hamburger ist still around 2€ at Burger King (about 1:1 in $ atm). Food and work safety are stricter too iirc. Workers also have 20 days of vacation minimum (if your work full-time), 60h weeks maximum @ 40h on average, as well as extra pay for night, weekend and holiday shifts. And health insurance is about 200 a month at that income I think.

Edit: Oh, and of course still 5-20% tipps.

You are getting screwed over completely. Anyone who claims otherwise is your enemy.

  • In bigger projects, you tend to miss type safety really bad, really fast. Rust has it built in, Python can have it bolted on. That's simply one of the many aspects to consider when choosing your programming language.

But don't worry about it too much. If one thing's for sure, it's that you will regret that choice in any case.

  • If you have trouble sleeping in general, it might be a bad habits thing. Melatonin supplements can help to get you tired. 1mg before you go to bed is enough, if you try to relax and sleep. They don't do anything if you do stuff that keeps you awake however.

This particularly anything exciting like sports, listening to energetic music, watching tense movies, playing fast or demanding games etc. Avoid any such thing for at least two hours before you try to sleep.

  • What does this have to do with Germany? If anything, the EU has already hinted at consequences should FB do this in their member countries

  • The problem are the shitty modern cars that are partly hard to repair so you have to pay for parts and service, partly because they want to sell you bs "features", while they also break constantly, because they are made to be as cheap as possible. Brought to you by the generation that now makes fun about people stuck in the system they helped to create

  • Linux is almost twice as big outside of gaming tho. In the Steam survey it sits at ~2%, whereas Statcounter has it at ~4%, based on browser data. Gaming actually lacks behind mainstream Linux adoption

  • Jokes on you, my dad took my mom's name

  • Bruh, you can share the truth on pretty much any way imaginable. Why would you ban one platform, and out of all of them TikTok, to "control the narrative"? Everyone knows what's going on, there have already been plenty protests because of it, it's way too late to control anything and maybe most importantly: TikTok offered the US more control and they declined. They straight up proposed to do whatever the hell the government wants if they can stay and it was dismissed.

  • I don't know about the US, but in Europe Domino's is ridiculously overpriced. Like, if you got a 50% off coupon, you are approaching normal pizza prices. And it's not even that good.

  • Pixel 8a was <400€ on black friday. I know not everyone can afford this, but even 5 years ago that wouldn't have been that much for a phone

  • Have you installed Steam as a Flatpak? In that case, maybe it tries to read the file system on the SSD, but has no permission to access it/its mount point

  • This guy is just the wildest mixture of things. Pretty much everything you hear is somewhat contradictory. It seems he is just straight up insane - tangled up in trauma, confusion, anger, lies and conspiracy theories
