  • Yes, one of the primary datacenters in downtown Toronto (151 front street) is primarily cooled from pulling cold water from the bottom of lake Ontario and cycling the warm back. I've been in there a number of times, the pipes were way bigger then I expected - pretty cool stuff

  • The usb OS drive for Unraid is to load the OS to RAM. Using the SSDs for an OS vs cache drives seems like a waste to me.

    I've used a whole range of NAS platforms and devices over the years and nothing compares to Unraid for a solid all in one solution for a homelab.

  • Generally yes, but I've been working with VMs on various platforms for a very long time, so I'm probably not the best to qualify on what easy is. How easy will depend on what software you are using.

    I've done many physical to virtual, and the very rare virtual to physical. Both can have problems you may need to work through (almost always driver related).
