  • Yeah, and if you went past the mode you wanted, selection was one-way. You had to flip that select switch down over and over and hope you didn't go past it the next time around.

  • I moved to a smaller city in South Korea in 2004 to teach English. A short while after I got there, I met a couple who were from a small town down the road from the small town I grew up in in Eastern Canada. Apparently we even went to the same small university (3000 students total) together and I somehow managed to never see them there.

  • Not that it's that common I'm sure, but my university girlfriend's best friend could think herself to orgasm. She inspired me to try it, and I've come (haha!) pretty close over the years, but never quite there. Might be because I'm a guy. It's certainly not going to happen in my current middle-age.

  • I didn't know it was a capacitor. I thought it was bent springs. I managed to fix one once by opening up the switches and bending the springs back, but it went back to double clicking within a month, and the process was not easy. I've got huge hands, and those switches are tiny.

  • Kevin J. Anderson's Saga of the Seven Suns. I started reading it a long time ago, got about twenty pages in and gave up. Much later, I forgot I had tried, and tried again, and got even fewer pages in when I remembered how it is chock full of the most inane pandering exposition I have ever read. Just a torrent of trite, hackneyed, cliché. I can't understand how it got published, let alone warranted 7 books. Maybe it gets better. I will never find out. I haven't heard much good about the Dune books he co-authored, either.

I should add that I've read Battlefield Earth, and actually enjoyed it. I generally do not have super high standards. If something is entertaining, I'll give it a chance.

  • Yeah, maybe work on making their switches not start double-clicking after a couple of years first.

I'm on my third-or-fourth one that has done this to me. Once this one gets too bad (they inevitably do) I am through with them. It's a shame because I really do like their peripherals. The mouse that convinced to keep buying them was an excellent device that lasted a very long time and I only replaced because it was a dinosaur. I used their solar powered keyboard for a decade-and-a-half, too, until I accidentally dropped something on it and broke it. Now, the switches in their mice die on me after a year or two without fail. They've clearly cheaped out on components. Fuck em. Goodbye Logitech. I will not miss their software.
